Hello,

this is my first post in this forum. I've just started experimenting with GameGuru. So please excuse me, if this is a stupid question. At the moment I am playing with static light and the following problem has arisen: If I place a light in front of a lamp and then generate a lightmap, the lamp throws a shadow on the wall. Does anyone know a solution to this problem?

Here are some pictures of my problem:

This seems to be a dynamic shadow. Try turning them off by setting the "shadows" slider to 0.

If this is a static shadow you'll need to replace the lightmarker so this does not occur. The lightmapper views the lamp as an object as any other so you have to work with the placement to give the player the illusion that its does not cast a shadow.

Open the entity .fpe and change to

castshadow = 0 or =1 pretty sure one of those settings turns shadow casting off.

Thank you for your fast answer. It's definitely a static light. I have now discovered that the shadow comes from the sun. Which is weird because it's in the building. And no matter which slide I turn, the shadow does not go away. The slider "shadow" removes all static shadows. And I do not want that. How can I turn off the sun completely?

Ah!

Yeah...

This will sound odd to you but you will have to block out the sun. Put a box or dome around your entire map. A model with thick walls will do.
The sun tends to shine through "thin" 3D models.

Thanks guys for all the tips and tricks! And thank you for the warm welcome. I tried it with the box to block the sun. In the editor, I see how it casts a gigantic shadow and my room is completely enclosed in the box. It also has thick walls. But when I press F4 again in test mode, nothing has changed at all: objects still cast shadows from the sun. The tip of "wizard of id" actually helped. But that's not practical with all objects, because I want them to cast a shadow. Then obviously I have to wait for the update But thank you again, this is a great community!

Huh here I would just place the light, bake it, then place the lamp.
