Product Chat / Stock ai , would they ever have talking amimation

i was wandering if the existing stock characters of GG would be able to talk in the future, would it be possible to add on to there animation , also talking animation for the lips of the characters . ?
would be nice to have that extra addition .

There are a couple of stock talking anims with them, but no lip movement ones. There should be a script that will allow you to step through all the animations available, ai_viewanimations.lua. That will allow you to see all the anims available.

yes i know about the ai_viewanimations.lua, but as far as i know there is none lip animations, that's why i was asking if it would be possible in the future to add it to the characters.



ps ( only to the male characters.. just now the female characters will talk to much. hahaha. )

The way they were set up is the mouth movements were between frames 1 - 20. They worked with a Phenom animation mechanism, which would read the supplied text file and then animate the mouth bones.

Worked ok, but GG is not set up with that at the moment and all mouthing animations would have to be rigged and animated. They were removed from the GG biped for stock characters.

They left the animation calls in the uber soldier FPE file.

Try adding this to the FPE file and see if everything stays in place.

Thanks Myke, I'm going to see if i can create some kind of runtime loop for text and see if the animation for the mouth/lip movements can be put into a cycle.

I think we can do better this time around, and will probably involve using asset resource from tools such as iClone and other talking editors. This way we can focus on importing tech rather than reinventing the wheel when it comes to facial animations, e.t.c.

And limit users to having to use expensive software like iclone?

After some testing, I regret to say that this is not possible yet in GG with the in game present tools.

Sounds like 3rd party talking editors is indeed the best solution here.
