Hey guys

I have finally come to a solution for the lightmapping problem that has been bugging me for months now.
And now I wanna share my knowledge.

Are you having this problem too?
Entites not having shadows?

Simply do this:
Edit the FPE and add to the line "effects" : effectbank\reloaded\entity_basic.fx

DONE !
It was that simple... Just a missing line in the FPE.

HOPE this helps for some of you!

Nicely done. I think I recall coming across that info a while ago and could have sworn I put it on my blog but it's still good to have on the forum here incase people are searching.

It's actually quite an obvious thing really, but it's so obvious you could spend hours staring at it and not see it.

Everything needs a shader to render properly, if you don't allocate a shader then there's a high chance it will choose default values for rendering, which means a lot of the shader effects will be missing.

It's something you don't really look for because you expect any half decent GameGuru modeller/artist to have added to the FPE automatically, so you don't expect it.

I suppose it's like searching for a specific tree in a forest, it's there in plain view but all the other trees are distracting you.

I think I told you this some time ago When we where checking that wall you used. But no matter! Now we have a tutorial for other users

These models are directly copied from FPSC, where it wasn't uncommon for static objects not to use a shader. They do however need one to render properly with the lightmapper. Actually, these models will still don't look quite right because they lack a proper normal and specular map.

Actually I think you told me, Wolf LOL

And granada is a case in point. A lot of people are strictly forum-ites.
