Latest version.

Version 1.31

Quite a difference, not only visual.
Going back to version 1.31 is a breath of fresh air due to the speed within the editor.

I've been busy with the terrain but did not like the shine on the textures, as if it is plastic.
So i've tried some things but in the end it is just not satisfactory.
So in order to find out what was missing, i've gone back to a previous version to see the difference.
The two pictures above show the difference.

But also the mountain in the latest version changes quite a bit when getting near or away from it, this is terrain-lod at work?
On the riverside were holes when i moved away from it, as if polygons are simply removed or not rendered when the player is at a certain distance.
This was at the foot of steep hills, no beach but a steep shoreline, the terrain behind it is rendered but the shoreline is a jigsaw pattern.

This is a fresh install

If you do not experience the same then it might be time for me to switch to win10.

As Granada Says ...
When you Uninstall the files folder normally stays intact so your terrains will stay the same ..
Try backing up your "Files" folder then uninstall .. then delete the old files folder.
Reinstall and see what happens ...
If all is ok then you can copy your files back .... although perhaps not your old terrain ones .

The only person ever to get all his work done by "Friday" was Robinson Crusoe..

I'm going to remove the complete map and install it again tomorrow on my c drive
It is currently running from an external disk that might cause some problems maybe.

Hi - are you calling out the texture stretching on the top picture? If so comment out the 'fastrocktexture' (something like that) line in the settings.fx file and this should reenable triplanar rocks.

Cheers.

It's best to keep maps in the mapbank, there are a few issues when you keep maps elsewhere, it should be ok in the editor and test, but when it comes to creating a standalone, having the original map stored anywhere but the mapbank is a major cause of standalone crashes, basically it will crate the standalone fine, and look ok, but when it tries to load the map it will crash. So always try to keep your maps in the structure supplied, i'd recommend this with all files really, there's a reason the files folder is structured the way it is.

Also to speed up the editor for the current live version, change "disablesurfacesnap=1" in the SETUP.INi file as this will speed up entity placement for now.

@ cybernescence
Among others, also the shine on textures and the way the editor works at the moment but i will see how it is after freshly installing it on C:

@Belidos.
The folder structure is not alterred, steam allows us to install programs on another drive, hence that is what i did in order to clean up space on my C: drive.

@Lee
Placing entities, creating, painting the terrain is no problem, it is when i change textures in the terrain palette, open a new random level or even starting GameGuru with the new default level that is quite slower than before.
Also going in testmode and back to the editor is quite slow.
My external drive is usb, maybe that is slowing GameGuru, so i'll report on it after a new install on C:
