So a while back I set off to just do a scene art thing with waterfalls....it has now evolved into a waterfall/Pirates of the Caribbean kind-of-thing!

This is not a game just an art project so far...

My questions are as follows...??

1:....Why do certain light marker go in & out at certain player distance?
(I/E.....there is suppose to be Red light from the shrine at top of the waterfall which worked in the beginning but after adding more light markers stopped working unless up-close???)

2:...Musicinzone.lua? At a certain distance one sound or the other sound completely cancel's out????....is there a distance fade in/out script?

3:.... Anybody know of a ground/ fog effect???....pretty much think that's all I need now???

Hey ShN33Ky, you have put some work into that - nice.

1) Something like this: if you have more than 3 or 4 ( I think) dynamic lights, GG turns them all off except for the two or three closest to you for performance reasons.
2) no idea
3) yeah, someone did some fog decals quite a while back, might be somewhere in the free media forum...

Edit: here yah go: here be one, and another, and yet another, all courtecy of Devcore35.

Also if you want more decals, Devcore35 has 4 free decal packs in that forum somewhere, just search decals or similar

You can only have three dynamic lights active in a scene at one time, this WL be the three closest to you. If you want more lights then you have to make them static and bake your lightmaps.

@ShN33Ky
When dealing with multiple sound scripts the trigger zones must not overlap if they overlap the transition sucks.

In the attached video the Script I have worked out for sound of my waterfall, the math advances and lowers the volume of the water fall sound depending on the proximity of the user. Note how the owl sound and the waterfall sound transition from one to the other. Trigger sounds need special care. If you are interested in messing with the lua file I am using let me know.

You may need to turn your volume up I forgot to mess with the volume setting when I made the video. YouTube and I don't always get along well with volume

Thanks for all the help and advise....

I used some Devecore ground fog which I think add's a little Pizzazz to the project! Two screen shots below

#1 the scene was actually built around the 'Forest" stock skybox! so I added a little fog around the bush under the bridge. I'm kicking my self but for now thinking less is better....

#2 added a little fog around the rocks of the ship.....Galaxy Seed SB which works better for the ship

learning the hard way ....probably put # 1 in the Galleries if TGC wants it!
Thanks again mates

No offence but the lighting looks terrible to me in those scenes.

I think it looks pretty sweet m8 tbh the only thing i would have tried to do maybe is bring in some fog , and lose the blue lighting for a off greenie white but the scene looks really nice imo

Yes the scene looks great it's just the lighting that puts me off a little, it looks a bit garish to me and needs to be a bit more subtle.

So I'm putting these 3 screenshots in the gallery....

#1 Waterfall with forest skybox and Pre-baked "quick"f1

#2 Waterfall forest different angle and real-time lighting

#3 Ship with Galaxy seed skybox and again Real-time lighting

I tried to add more red into the scene like the terrain and wanted more of a grey/white fog through the editor but just couldn't get all the combo's in place at the same time! One effect seems to take away from other's....

Live & learn

The submissions have to be manually approved, and I think it's only The Next that can do that (I might be wrong), but nobody seems to have heard form him for a few weeks now, hope he's ok.

I was thinking it mite be because I use the Edge browser for GG forums....I have had issues in the past with uploading to other sites using Edge! Things seem to work better with chrome!

But yes Best wishes to The Next....cheers

Yeah he is just not around it seams, not even looking after the store, so lets hope he has gone on Caribbean cruise, or something.

Let's hope something! It's not really safe in the Caribbean lately!

Lol, yeah, good point - safer to stay away from that region of course.

So lets hope he is holidaying somewhere safe!
