Hey everyone! I have decided to maintain the original unofficial discord channel sever for Game Guru. As a place for people to collaborate ideas, ask questions, get help and just sit back and chat live with members of this community.

Feel free to join at anytime, share your WIPs, post screenshots and promote what your working on. I'm generally always on discord after 6pm Eastern Standard Time. I find discord to be a great place to jump on during slow days at the forums. I usually actually have both up and running at the same time.

This acts in no way as a forum replacer but in fact works better hand in hand. I find some questions dont require an entire thread on them. Its also just a great place to connect with people live rather than waiting 24 hours for responses all the time. I always have the forums up and discord at the same time. Hope to see you guys there if your ever bored or filled with ideas.

Teabone: Good idear.

But why not use Slack ? , TGC is already using Slack , so if we want Lee to also join that would be a perfect solution.

I would hate having more then one chat client open , and the official "AppGameKit Slack Group" is already Slack , so...

I can see some great benefits using Slack when we get the DX11 beta , and want Lee's attention.

Or perhaps Lee ( TGC ) could make a official "GameGuru Slack Group" , that would be really great

Never heard of that one before, maybe that's why Teabone chose Dsicord.

Edit: Just checked it out, he maybe didn't choose it because it's free version is severely restricted (voice is one on one only, you can't have custom groups etc, you can't have guests, etc.).

Main point is that we are "already" using Slack to communicate with TGC, TGC always have someone logged into Slack , so why not also use Slack for GameGuru

Maybe because nobody knows about it over here, just had a quick look around the TGC site and i can't find any mention of it.

Yup, a sticky hidden in among a bazillion other stickies, damn they need to do a clean up over there lol

Seriously though, is it used much? Because going by the responses in the sticky it doesn't seem very well received. Wouldr be great if they could add a GameGuru group and advertise it a bit better.

Ha yes

Currently there is 6 people online , guess thats the normal , i find it most efficience when helping others you can share scripts/shaders/code/screenshots real-time, so its pretty great if you need fast help, or need a quick answers to something

Yes a official "GameGuru Slack Group" would be great.

from what i can tell he didn't provide the proper link that link just refers to his personal channels. Under the name of the channel Teabone in discord click invite people and post that link and make sure to check the check box. provided pictures too.

And as for Slack I've actually never heard of it and had no idea it existed. Even though I brought up a chat request for GG here a year or two ago, nobody at time seemed to give mention to an existing chat among the TGC community. something to look into for sure. As myself, I enjoy using Discord cause you can use it via mobile app or on browser without downloading anything. Also no restrictions.

Slack is actually extremely popular among companies that do development in general. It's API is used by dozens and dozens of third party applications to allow integration. Discord is used a lot among gamers and indie devs, so it's a perfectly good platform to use for the GameGuru community to communicate with each other.
