Everytime I use the sound zone, and change the script to music.lau or what ever it just freezes up, then I have to create a random object and click properties to get out the property tab

It could be the wrong format of sound which could cause it to freeze or perhaps verify your installation ...

I answered on the steam forum as well.

You don't use music.lua in the level its like global.lua. you edit it in notepad to point to your sound file, then use the music track scripts in trigger zones to choose the track.

Hi there

1.make sure the audio format is wav or ogg
Its the only formats you can use

2.put the sound file into the gg files/audiobank/user

3.in the map, put sound zone on the player start marker use musiczone.lua in the main window, and choose your sound in the sound window its should play the audio in loop.

Yeah be sure to use ogg in the main. GG has caused me hassles many times using .mp3's. Sometimes they work, sometimes not. Even ogg's have failed on occasion.

Never use those ... There licenced.
That could cause issues with a released game which is why Ogg and Wav are the chosen format in GG.
Totally Royalty free.

But going by your steam thread you may have a bigger issue ...
Can you post your specs... OS, Graphics card etc....The freezing should not happen.

I was having the same problem and Lee helped me figure it out..

This is for Windows PC,

When browsing files, if you have the Windows Preview Pane running and preview an audio file Windows 10 now opens a pop up, to play the audio.
That popup is what is interfering with GameGuru.

To fix this turn the Preview Pane off In the View Menu of Windows file explorer.

After doing this I stopped having issues.

To be honest it would be more helpful if a new Zone could be created called Music Zone. So that the music in zone could be default. Ironically I had the same problem today using music.lua instead of the musicinzone.lua. Was scratching my head for a good minute there as to why no music was playing from the given property.

I tried to create my own Marker, but it seems in GG that's not entirely possible. A lot of hard coded stuff there. Understandably so.

the music & sound files must be in the GG subfolder files/audiobank/yourfolder
else they will not start, I had mine in an external folder... hmmm

For me work fine with musicinzone.lua , the only issue is than it does not stop when leave soundzone, I had to add the StopSound(e,0) command to the script.

you could always just use musicinzone.lua in a trigger zone and link the sound file to your music file, but it has to be in ogg format
