OS:- Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

CPU:- Intel Core i3 @ 2.40GHz

RAM:- 8 Gb DDR3

GFX Card:- 1024MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 730

FPSC-R Version:- Newest update

Error Report:- Even with the new update the grass still "floats" above the ground, in the editor and with stand alone game. Adjusting the grass width or height sliders in the editor works only temporary whilst in that level. If you edit the level, die or save it as another save name, the problem still returns. Also in stand alone game, the grass floats as well, and it just looks unprofessional.

Is it repeatable? Yes

If so, how? In the editor: every time you edit a level, die or save as another name.
In stand alone game: every time you die or load a saved game.

Can we get some screenshots please, it might be related to the geometry of the terrain, so it would help to see what type of terrain this is happening on, personally not seen it do this yet, so it could be only happening on certain angles of geometry etc.

Hi Belidos. It normally does this when I use random terrain levels. So, in effect it happens mostly on sloped terrains, but not necessarily at a certain angle, but at various degrees and random terrains.

Hi Mookai. Wow, since 2014. It's been a problem for so long now?

I would have guessed that such a serious bug would have been sorted long ago...

I'm tired of reporting it again and again, I've reported the bug a few times.
Others have reported it a few times, nothing...

A good tip, create your terrain first. Then paint the grass on it.
Sometimes it helps to avoid this bug...
Or if you want to change your terrain again, after you've painted the grass...
-remove the grass, save the map. load it again, paint your grass new

It's very bad when the bug appears in the standalone from a customer/friend/gamer...

Thanks for the tip, Mookai. I tried that, but unfortunately the bug still appears.

Hopefully the bug will get fixed with the next update.

Hi Mookai, and everybody else that's got the floating grass problem.

I think I might have figured out why it happens, and a potential cure!

When you have a level that's got the floating grass problem, do the following:

1. When in test-game, open the TAB TAB menus. Go to the Graphic Options menu (normally the one on the bottom left).

2. Lower the Vegetation slider (I found that for big levels with lots of grass, I need to lower it to about 50).

3. Save the level as a new level, and enjoy some nice grassy scenery.

I haven't tested it in stand alone yet, but I'm confident it will resolve most "floating grass" issues.

I suspect the reason why it happens is because not all graphics cards can handle so much grass (time for me to get a better graphics card? ). If anyone with this issue can try this and confirm if it works for them as well.

I hope this may help anybody else with the same problem.

could be, but I have a feeling it's not. Every time you change the grass slider it actually completely regenerates the grass from scratch, so it may just be resetting it to where it should be when you adjust the setting.

A quick test should work it out, after doing what you did, try moving the slider back up again and see what happens. If it stays flush to the ground then it's not what you think, if it moves again it could be what you think.

Hi Belidos. Yeah, I'm not to sure what causes the floating grass problem, but what worked for me is when I decreased the vegetation slider in the graphics options menu to about 45-50. This allows me to move the vegetation quantity, height and width sliders in the quality settings menu up to max, without having the awful floating grass problem from occurring.

I also saved a stand alone level like this, and am happy to say that the grass sticks firmly to the ground at all times.

Now I can make awesome levels, Yay! GameGuru rocks!
