I've done some searching of the forums without luck.

It seems that currently there is no way to raise of lower the water level.

Is this correct? if there is.. How is it done?

Thanks

the only way to do it at the moment is with setup.ini

change the value to what ever you want, trial and error to find the right level, please bear in mind this will affect ALL levels it is not independent.

In the game guru setup file you can change the elevation of both the water and terrain. The setup file can be found in the GG root directory.

Sorry Graphix beat me to it..

In the setup.ini file

defaultterrainheight=500
defaultwaterheight=500

But that sets it for the whole level, you can't raise different areas to different heights.

The best way to do it at the moment is to use water models, there's a few on the store, and some on the forum somewhere (I forget where), you also have a water entity shader so you can change a model to look like water.

Here is a good test but only on a new map ... Try setting the water to 700 and leave the land at 500 then start GG ... it will be covered in water .... then select a Random map and you can get some really cool looking landscapes with lakes etc

i hope Lee will add a lua command set for water level, so we can flood rooms etc. that would be great.

I think Lee separating the water from the land is the first step to enabling him to do this when the time comes.
Kind of setting the groundwork

A "water cube" entity would be a nice feature
It could be positioned everywhere in the map, and "moved" up or down to flood areas with trigger zones
just an idea..

The water features are on the voting board. I'd recommend boosting them up if you are interested in having the ability to raise and lower water in the editor... and via scripting. It was a pretty amazing feature back in the day.

What was really cool with being able to modify the water height in game via scripting, is you could have like a valve being loosen to flood areas and cool things like that. A feature I'd love to have back.
