I would use Blender if you could. Some have had success with Sketch up.

You can also google blender texturing and UV mapping and get a 1000 tutorials or more.

I also use Sketchup learned to use it within a week its a great program to start, I also use Blender been using that for nearly 12 months and still not learned to use it properly and I am a quick learner, I have spent close to £200 on books and tutorials yet I still go back to sketchup its not the best but it works

Blender is like gimp ,you either love it or hate it.its a great tool but it's all about shortcut keys.i fire it up often but still can't get used to it.but saying that it's a great asset to model builders as gimp is to texture makers.thanks to the people that work on both for free, just like make human.

I'm using lowtech software from the Jurassic period. View results.

While its generally better to learn something like Blender in the long run, you will likely get faster results if you try:

Deled3D
Wings3D
Milkshape3D
or Fragmotion (without the 3D)

Just throwing these out there in case you grow frustrated of Blender.

I've never been able to work out how to use fragmotion, i still can't figure out how to translate, rotate, and scale in it. Yet i picked up Blender and was able to do all that and more in minutes. Odd how different peoples brains work isn't it.

Are you using Blender? The only time i've had this error is when i've messed up the export in blender, when you export to DirectX you MUST have the object you are exporting highlighted (ie in object mode right click the object so that it has a yellow outline), otherwise it exports an empty model, which will cause GameGuru to crash.

I want to put my models up on the forums for free, but I am very bad at texturing. This is what happened to my last project.
