I think GG uses one graphic for grass and drawn paths. I've noticed that when I start a new level or just want to screw around, that the grass and painted terrain textures are exactly the same as previous level I had made.

That's no good. I'm going to want to come back to a pre-made level from before only to have grass and terrain textures all wrong.

Every single item in a level needs to be written to that level and then start fresh for new levels. I consider this a bug - and a pretty big one.

Please fix this.

Thank you.

Mike

I'm not sure if this is what you are looking for, but there is some other kinds of grass at the TGC store that is free to download:

https://www.tgcstore.net/pack/10503

I also don't know if you have tried the sliders to alter the terrain and alter the grass (see picture below).

I'm not sure if this is what you were talking about, but I hope it helps.

You misunderstand. I know how to change grass using the sliders and drop downs. I am talking about drawing a path or painting terrain and painting and removing grass from sections. I save my work and then exit out of GG. Next time I open it and it starts up, there is the same exact grass/textures laid out. I then alter all of it and save my work. I exit out of GG and then re-run it. Load a previous level and the terrain textures and grass painted are all wrong - it's loading the work you just did every time. It needs to not do that.

He's talking about the bug where when you make a new flat level it inherits all the settings from the previous session instead of loading defaults. Which Lee has been told about by a few people now, but hasn't fixed yet.

Hence why Lee may not know and things get missed on the next update ...
However this has been reported and I'm sure it will be dealt with as the DX11 gets near the end.

I noticed that the other day, thought it was just me, lol, I don't make new levels very often. Anyway, thanks for the link to that grass pack, Len, nice free grasses!

I think the way this preserves settings across level design is handy sometimes but also see why it can be annoying.

Maybe ideally we need three options:

Factory default reset
Set default settings
Restore default settings

This way we can reset to fresh install settings but also be able to save our own defaults and use either at press of button. Perhaps even a number of 'defaults' that we can save to reapply to new levels where similar environment or mood needed.

Cheers.
