Hello,

I have been reading, with great interest, Lees progress (May/June) concerning the update progress of GG to DirectX 11. It sounds like incredibly hard/tedious work. In the end, I see the benefits it will provide to GG’s future.

Can someone clear things up for me concerning MOST CURRENT versions/ possible betas with Directx11 in the future:

In Steam, I am running public release v1.4 as indicated.

Right click GG -> Local Files -> Verify Integrity of Application Files. (This how a search of the Forum indicates I checked my build.)

The GG community has been told “2017.05.12 version has gone live” as of Lees Post 15th May 2017 Progress Report.

The following link also summarizes major changes to GG:

https://www.thegamecreators.com/post/gameguru-20170512-released-2

How, do I get this 2017.05.12 build? If it was formally released why isn’t there an incremental increase of some sort to v 1.4? If 2017.05.12 is a beta, then why can’t the GG community easily see the option in Steam?

Please help, as you can plainly see, I am confused with version releases and work/patches that were done.

Is anyone else confused with the correlation of work done and version numbers for GG? Any suggestions to clear things like this up?

Thanks,

Right click gameguru in your steam list and choose properties, go to the betas tab, and choose the version from the drop down.

We can't see it as "easily" as you expect (it's fairly obvious if you know your way around steam) because that is the way steam works, there's nothing we can do about it.

Ok, great! Very good. (I think) Thank you for the guidance with Steam and GG/software releases.

I selected the beta 2017.05.12 in the Steam "Betas" list and the program automatically started updating to the selected aforementioned most current version by Lee. I also noted after this process, that there seems like no way back to a version. ("Select the beta you would like to opt into:")

Is this how it should work?

As people know more about Steam...could someone also briefly explain the input box after the first "beta access code to unblock private betas" if you could.

The beta access is for the closed beta, it's an invite only beta (you can email Lee and ask if you can take part).

You should be able to switch between any of the live and public preview versions at will, however if Gameguru is running when you try to the options will be greyed out, Steam won't let you switch versions while software is running to avoid conflicts.

Hello,

Thank you for the directions on versions/beta clarification.

I really don't understand why Lee does not use version numbers AND dates. The incorporation of both would clear up GG version issues more precisely. Especially, for those that do not follow GG progress on a daily, weekly, monthly basis. The dual format (version-date) would also seem to be better suited for Lee to break down/chronicle/follow progress. ......Just a thought.

If you want Beta access just email Lee and he will give you a key ...
Once Reloaded changed to GG the updates came through for everyone on steam at the same time .. There was only the one version.
You were actually on beta In fact we were "All" Early Access or beta if you want to look at it that way ... Hence all the changes and we were all fully refunded in the value of DLC.s and steam keys so we never really lost anything ..

As development continued and got more complex the official Beta was reintroduced and anyone still wanting to participate was invited and are still welcome. Nothing to be Urked about .. If that's been stressing you out then its been over nothing ..
The only person ever to get all his work done by "Friday" was Robinson Crusoe..
