3rd Party Models/Media Chat / How can I put melee weapons in the hands of custom characters that are non-human?

Our 1st game won't have any actual humans in it and we are using GG for the level design. How can I get the non-humans to pick up and hold/use melee weapons.

These are custom characters converted through FBX2GG.

Add the following line to the fpe:

"hasweapon = [your weapon]"

Easiest if you give it a melee script that is already available. You can do this by assigning the necessary animations to the right spot in the fpe as well.

Also, make sure that the character rig has a dummy named "FIRESPOT". This is what GG will use to attach and align the VWEAP model to. If no FIRESPOT is present, the weapon will probably end up protruding from the character's crotch or something awkward.
