What software do you guys use to create the white background 64x64 model picture that is required by GG?

I have Photoshop and all the other usual suspects, but creating a simple 64x64 bmp image is a PITA.

I assume you mean for the icon, just use Microsoft Paint, make sure you save it as a 24bit bmp.

I would imagine Photoshop would have no issues, I use Paint Shop Pro here, mainly because I'm used to it really, it's pretty old these days but still pretty good.

But do those load 3D objects? I'm confused. You need a model loader to load the directx model and then take a snapshot.

How are you guys doing that? Step by step would be appreciated.

Hi Mike

I believe you have UU3D pro load you model in that turn off the axis guides (change viewport back colour to white) and use windows snipping tool, save the image, load it in photoshop resize and save as bmp, I also use Paint Shop Pro.

I use Direct X mesh viewer, this is how I do it

in your modeling program, print screen, paste it into paint, select the area you want and remove everything else, then resize it to 64x64 and save it as a 24bit bmp.

Yeah like @Belidos says. That's how I do it for store items.

For models I don't plan to release to the store I usually just make a 2D image by hand.

I use photoshop for everything....

I take it directly from Max, after model rendering.

You are taking a snapshot in your modeling package, of course. Then you scale them down in your art package.

If you want something that just takes a snap off an existing 3D model, use the software I attached. It writes FPE files too...
you just gotta add the shader line (this is for FPSC and only works flawlessly for static objects...that is if you use the FPE writer.)

Thank you. I'll check it out. Right now I just want to make the bmp files so game guru has an icon you can select.
