I just looked, and while there were a few lua commands for volume I didn't find any lua commands that controlled those specifically. They do seem to be much quieter than the grass. I never really noticed. One thing that I suppose could be done is open the individual sound files in an audio editor and increase the amplitude of the sound. Honestly that's more than I want to do with them!

Hi all
Yeah this is actually a problem for all sounds even on normal terrain and even hard surfaces, and was introduced when the 16 textures update arrived.

I filed a bug report for this same issue, probably need to email lee directly to get it sorted.

There are no direct commands or settings to influence the footfall volumes, they are controlled entirely from the raw WAV data and the materials file which you can find at audiobank\materials\materialdefault.txt, which only modulates the sound frequency with the "matfreq" field. I have added a note to add the "matvolume" to these settings so you can change the relative volume of these footfall sounds but if you want a short term solution, you can edit the new control script for the player (gameplayercontrol.lua) which now handles the playing of the sound in LUA and you can adjust the sound volume with the command "SetRawSoundVolume".
