I have tools that will export autodesk fbx 2006,2009,2009.2010,2011,2012,2013,2014 in ascii or binary
I have one that exports filmbox fbx 6.1 and 7.1

What I want to know is which is Lee targeting for import so I can choose the best fit.

Thanks in advance
R.

I am compiling against the '2016.1.2' version of the FBX SDK but it's not particularly good at importing animated model files at the moment. Providing the model is centered and oriented correctly, static models import fine.

Lee Thanks for that.

As you seem to be on the latest sdk I will concentrate my efforts on the highest versions my stuff can produce(should save some wasted effort).
Any Idea how long animation will be?

Thanks again

edit I was linking to a old page the latest is 2018.1 still all my stuff predates 2016 so I still try to use my latest but it may not be good enough?

Autodesks developer help page seems to imply that any version prior to 2016 will not work with the 2016 sdk as the file format has changed. or have I got the wrong end of the stick.
Quote: "Updated the FBX file format to 7.5. This new file format is only compatible with the 2016 or later product versions that use 64-bit integers in the binary block headers for large file support (> 2GB)."

I suspect I am overthinking this.

Lee,

How long before you believe we will be able to import a .FBX file with rigging and animations and they work 100%?

I have some FBX work happening in the background, but it's a tricky one so cannot announce a date, but my aim is to get FBX models (from Unreal, Unity and popular FBX stores) that animate in GameGuru this year!

Thanks for the gesture, no need to reward me for my efforts, the craft is in itself my reward I am also looking forward to bringing in lots of cool new assets from the world of FBX.
