Hi again guys ,
not sure what I'm doing wrong here
But , the ground textures all seem to look like plastic
when set on HIGH or HIGHEST settings.
What can I adjust to decrease that effect , but , still have great looking terrain.

here's a video...

Wow, that's some shiny terrain! I only have my phone right now so i cant test, but I would try lowering global specular and/or sun surface factor and/or any of the settings in the tab tab screen. Hope that helps.

First thing that springs to mind is turn the "Global Spec " slider down

The specular is supposed to be controlled by the alpha in the _d.png file.

Thx Guys
turning down the Global Specular cuts
it by about 75%....BUT....also kills the Specular of
EVERY other item in the whole map also.
So is it because the ALPHA channel in the _d.pgn file is set to high ?
Can we , in effect , lower it at all ?
so that all the other items in the map are not affected also?

Thx

ok ,
I tried a few of the other terrain texture groups
and they do NOT all act the same with the SPECULAR at 100.
So , it must have something to do with the ALPHA setting as you said Pirate Myke.

Thanks for the info and the further understanding ,you guys.

Yeah, the new terrain system breaks the old terrain textures - you have to adjust the alpha in them to get rid of the shine.

If you can't see them in explorer they will have no shine in Game Guru, which is what you want unless it is raining in your level

I notice that the video is using the old terrain system, the new system doesn't use a specular texture and takes the specular from the alpha channel of the _d texture instead now, is that video still relevant?

Pretty much Instead of adding it to the terrain bank you import the textures to the editor.
