nice..

Have a look at some Sketchup tutorial, the hull is really easy to do
My first try, the sizes are a bit out as I guessed, you don't see many narrow boats on the river Skerne lol but I'd imagine there will be plans out there, there is for RC boats

Press G, use the terrain tool to lower a circle the width you want to the depth you need, switch to the next tool (i forget the name the one that raises/lowers the terrain to the same level) hold down the left mouse button in the center of the circle you just made, then use the WASD keys to move, est voila straight lines.

Thank you Belidos, I didn't expect you to do it now but thank you,
this might seem like a silly question but how do you make things float what ever I put in water sinks lol

If they don't have a script, you can set then to static. If they do have a script and you need them dynamic, then change isimobile to yes.

if you off set origin you can make them float..
Origin will settle on the ground below the boat so you just raise the boat to the same depth as the water

in the picture you can see that I've placed the hulls axis at origin, which is also the canal floor

I added the sketchup hull, its GG ready.. I think the scale is off, I was just messing

Here you go mate, not my best work, but not too bad as a quick model, I've animated it to have a slow bob, so it looks like it's floating in water.

You see GraPhix, this is what I mean about these being the nicest and most generous forums online, full stop! Although, I'm half tempted to tell you and Belidos to get a room!

Great looking work from everyone so far! Bod, I would love to see those locks animated! That would be fantastic!
