I have made a "Game" and uploaded it on itch.io. When i download it and try to launch it, I cant. It only makes a circle around the cursor, then it stops, and nothing happens. Any help? Thank you

Did you zip up the whole standalone folder with the name you gave the first map?

Can you post your zip file on dropbox or some similar service and email me the link to myke1net@hotmail.com

I will look at the contents and see where the issue may be.

Also some media and scripts and music may not be auto copied to the standalone build. Does it play on your machine before you zip it up and upload it?

Just to make sure we are all on the same page. To create a game that anyone can play:

1. Build your game in the editor
2. Go to "File" then "Save" and save it as a .FPE file
3. Go to "File" then select "Save as Standalone"

Your game and all its assets will now be saved as a standalone game in your "Documents/GameGuru/My Games/Name_of_Your_Game" folder.

To run them you need to go to that folder and double click the "Name of Your Game.exe"

To upload them to a server like itch.io, you would need to zip that folder and all its contents, then upload. When you download it from itch.io you would then need to unzip the folder and its contents, and run it from the .exe

OK, so now we know it's not user error, we can start trouble shooting.

I know it's a complete pain having someone go through steps with you that you have already done, but best to check just in case, hat way we're all on the same page and nothing gets missed

Your best bet would be to do as Myke said, either send him a link to the itch.io download, or put it on drop box and send him the drop box link, he'll be able to download it and check if he can see anything wrong.

Just a thought, did it work from the .exe before you uploaded it to itch.io? If it did, then it might be soemthing that's happened on their end, maybe a corrupted file.

It worked before I uploaded it. I also dont think the file could be corrupt, because I can extract it (Dont know if i can extract corrupt files). Thanks for helping!

It does sound like itch.io's database may have broken the zip somehow if it worked before you uploaded to be honest. All it takes is for one of the files inside the folder to be corrupted, it wouldn't stop you unzipping it.
