I think the new textures are a big step forward. However, character AI is in desperate need of attention. I placed a shotgun soldier and hit Test Game. The player was able to walk right up behind the character, bumping into him and jumping up and down. No reaction from the character.

You realise you now set the View range, Cone angle in the character properties now don't you ?
This has been available since the new AI .... Try this ..

Set " View Cone Angle " = 500
Set " View Range " = 5000
" Always Active " = On

The only thing I have noticed is you have to wait for the 2 second " Press Tab...etc " Message to go before he responds if your near.
Or stand very far away to test as you get near ..

If he is facing you the default will see you pretty instantly so I think the cone angle is more important so you can press Tab then " Debug Visuals " to see the radius of the cone angle which by default is facing forward of the character so he doesn't see you until you get in front of him ..

My worst issue is they are all in "Gun Pose" rather than idle ..
The only person ever to get all his work done by "Friday" was Robinson Crusoe..

you can edit that in the FPE, but currently there are only 5 anims used by the AI:

AMD FX 8Core @ 4GHZ - 16 GB DDR4 - 2xRadeon7950 - Windows 7 Ultimate

playanimineditor = 1
anim0 = 1,22 ;idle ------------------------------------------------------- works

anim1 = 685,707 ;move
anim2 = 5511,5553 ;kick
anim3 = 4812,4850 ;hurt
anim4 = 515,605 ;reload

you probably already sorted but others probably have not.
i wandered the same thing myself, but if you load a character in gg
change the script in editor to ai_viewanimations mark down any animation you want to use
or change in the above 5, you can scroll through the animation with clicking mouse button
left or right click for one frame at a time, or hold shift left mouse to speed through or same
right mouse and shift for reverse. if you look at the anim 0 above you will see were i got them from
in the view animation in the editor, so any animation stored in a character from GG can be changed
to go in any of the above animation listed above, hope this helps anyone understand .
lee has a couple of videos on the twitch sessions that might be handy to some,
