Just excited so thought I'd share my new build, well old case with new guts.

Intel i7 7700k cpu
Gtx 1060 6Gb vid card
16Gb DDR 4 ram at 2400mhz
480gb Kingston SSD
ASUS Prime b250m5 motherboard

Just waiting on my deepcool maelstrom all in one water cooler to really push the CPU a bit. Loads from shutdown quick as now. Haven't had time to do any GameGuru tests as of yet
PC Specs: Windows 10 home 64-bit, Amd 7900 3gb DDR5 graphics, 8gb DDR3 Ram, Intel i7 3.4ghz

Oh and by the way let.me know how you go with temperature on the i7 7700K for encoding video I had to go into bios and turn turbo off as it was going over 90 degrees Celsius almost Instantly, will try again after I get the water cooler for it but yeah ran very hot using a stock air cooler

Yeah oc'd will always run hot, so the more cooling the better, water cooling is a definite must.

are you sure that's the right reading or that the fan is working and attached correctly? 90c would be close to frying the cpu, generally speaking your cpu shouldnt go above 70c under full load, most motherboards have a built in shut off for too high temperatures in my experience.

Yeah for the 7700K it throttles down after 100 degrees but I have no Interest in letting it get that high, just using the cooler that was with my i7 2600 until the water cooler arrives and hopefully I can bump it back up again, has been over 40 degrees ambient here as well so that doesn't help.

I used to have the old fashioned water cooling with a big rad.now I have a sealed unit for my cpu, much better.cooling has come a long way.( good luck with the new builds hope they both work well)

Apparently the Kabey Lake processors run a little hotter than other intel processors, normal range is low 40's on idle, up to 60 on low usage, medium usage is up to low 70's, and high usage is up to the low 90's

Mine's running around 32 on idle, playing in a raid last night on world of Warcraft it was hitting the high 40's, and playing overwatch it was managing to hit the high 60's (both on max settings), but that's probably because I only have 5 fans.

Ivy bridge and the first series of haswell chips did run hot due to paste being used instead of soldering the hood on the die.
Apparently they use paste again after the refresh of haswell's with a soldered hood.
If that is the case, a very good cpu cooler instead of the stock cooler is certainly preferable.

Yeah doesn't help that it's fairly common to have 40 degree days here for ambient temp lol, too expensive to cool the whole house down to low 20's, btw if anyone from Aus reads this and wants to make an offer on any of my old components feel free here is what I have:

I7 2600 3.4ghz
8Gb DDR3 ram
Motherboard with ram.and CPU still installed .
AMD 7900 gfx card I think it was 4gb men
GeForce GTX 670 3gb gfx card

All sitting around doing nothing

Not enough?!

I've ended up going for an AMD 1700 here, against my golden rule of Intel, Intel, Intel. I'm hoping it will be a better long term investment with all those extra cores to work with. Will have to see how temps hold up, but I've heard good reports overall.

Anyone tried their new system out in GG yet? Seeing any improvements?

Lol, I was kidding, that many fans is keeping me well below the base temperatures, it can get noisy when ramped up but it works

Nope, nope, nope, just no! I can't stand lights on a PC, they 're pointless and just annoying, my latest PC I built specifically without a glass panel because I hate lights on my PC, but it still had Aura on the board, and even with an enclosed case the shifting lights were coming through the vents etc and actuqally keeping me awake, took me a week to work out how to disable aura, never buying Asus again.

I have a MSI board on the way that apparently lights up all over, but pretty sure the case will cover it. That is of course if I put the sides back on ;p not to see the lights, but because that's normally how my PC's live. This newish craze of lighting up your PC's like a Christmas tree, I haven't ever really seen the point. I mean I spend 99.9999999% of the time looking at my monitor, not the insides of my Tower. I think my CPU fan lights up as well, joy ;p

The youth is quite attracted to it, there is a broad fanbase for case modding.

Lights on the mainboard, fans with light in them, the ability to change colors, a design case, watercooling with light and coloured fluid.
And of course it is a plus if the mainboard has many features including a nice layout or theme.

For me it must be essential and practical, so i'll buy a B350 board with a 1700 (or newer version) when i've saved enough money for it in 2 years time.
