HI All,

Lately I have been seeing this more and more on my maps, 2 big projects effected so far. Unsure what has caused it, and what could possibly fix it.

I have used F1 - F4 to complete the light mapping, then ran them and cancelled them to try to remove the light map, but the darkness remains. I have also verified my files through steam just in-case.

It occurs on the terrain and entities and prevents me from seeing either while in the editor.

Test game is fine, no issue.

Video better represents the issue:

Ok so its not the beta .....
Are you using a custom terrain by any chance ?

If so go to the terrainbank ...find the particular terrain folder and delete the "superpalette.ter" ( it will make its own new one )
If not then just try that anyway ....... Its a strange one for sure ...

What are your system specs and operating system.
I am guessing your drivers are up to date?

Thank guys,

Actually yes, I'm using Pirate Myke's terrain! lol

I will try deleting the superpalette.ter and fingers crossed.

Not the greatest system in the world, but I've been running GG since launch with no issues, and all drivers are up to date

Update: Deleting superpalette.ter and allow it to build again has not fixed it. Changing the terrain and doing the same with the superpalette.ter on the default terrains with no joy . I Will now try a fresh install to see what happens and will post another update.

Update2: No resolution after a fresh install of GG so I suspect the map file is corrupt somehow. Still workable but painful.

Thanks for all your help anyways, I will struggle on.

If it is my terrain then it might be 2048 x 2048 textures sizes. This is twice the size of normal terrain textures. How does one of the stock terrain work for you?

Definitely no issue with your terrain as it worked fine for a good while, seems to be the shadows are baked?? Where the terrain is showing ok, when I lower the terrain the black mass appears? Very odd. I'm just working around and end the level there and move on to a 2nd half on a fresh map, thanks anyways.

In the setup.ini file in the Game Guru root folder try changing this statement

lightmappingexcludeterrain=0

to this

lightmappingexcludeterrain=1

restart Game Guru and then try baking and see what the results are.

No change after changing lightmappingexcludeterrain=1

Not a deal breaker for me, doesn't look like anyone else has had the same issue so I know troubleshooting is difficult.

This is not a lightmap issue , i seen this type of patterns when we converted to the new depth buffer for shadows , did not see it in the editor but. this pattern happens when a shader is still using the old depth buffer code , are you using any custom shaders ?

Nor LM, nor custom terrain, nor shadows, just few barrels and player, since I was just testing script.

I've got that shadows when back to editor, anyway since does not a map, I don't mind about.

Edit: I've some similar structure in my maze map, but this is different map, nothing to do with this. Very odd. GG mixing maps?

I've noticed that if you change tab/tab settings on a map, then start a new blank map it remembers the settings you previously changed. Sometimes it even remembers after restarting GameGuru, but I haven't had any issues with lightmaps and shadows carrying over yet though.
