If you're looking for a book that tells you all you need to know about game design, check out "Level Up!" by Scott Rogers. It is the best book in the world.

Don't worry - I am not Scott Rogers.

I've always thought that "Pillars of the Earth" by Ken Follett was the best (of course, this is purely opinion), but I'll check it out, thanks!

EDIT: LOL, I should have known it was related to video games by the title. I've added it to my wishlist on Amazon. Can't really buy any "treats" until March. Thanks again, lordjulian!

I have this book! It was purchased for me, as a present from my Brother -in-law.

It truly is a great book.

It covers everything regarding game development, from starting out, all the way to marketing your game.

I will have to read through mine again. It's great at giving inspiration in those quiet moments of development.

Thanks for the tips and links!

I have to tell you, lying back and listening to "Level Up!" is the 3rd most blissful thing I've found to do on my bed.

unfamillia - you are right: game dev can be lonely and this book helps to bring back the fun in those moments.

Wolf - thanks! I have been toying with buying that book for a while. The bits shown in "look inside" make a lot of sense. I think I'll try it.

Thank you all for the links, they are all on my wishlist! (The Pillars of the Earth is still my favorite, though, and always will be)
