It would appear in 1.14 that there is an issue with painting grass, instead of overlaying the terrain texture already painted, it's replacing it.

As you can see in the video below, I paint a line on the ground, run a test and the line is there, then I come out of test and paint grass over the top of it, this should then overlay a layer of grass onto the existing painted texture, however when I run the test you can clearly see that the painted texture has been replaced with the default texture. It looks like grass painting is deleting the painted terrain.

Hmm. Thought it has been this way all along. Would be nice if we could paint the grass on any surface and have the underlying surface stay there, with the grass over the top.

We may need to wait for the terrain update to get this fixed.

No it's not been like this for a long time, painting terrain over grassed areas always deleted grass, but painting grass over painted terrain never used to remove the painted terrain. Although it may have happened earlier than 1.4 and I hadn't noticed.
