things have changed, you may have a brand new PC with a Titan on graphics duty, Gigabytes of RAM sitting spare, and both a hard drive with near unlimited storage and a big SSD - one that makes everything fly. Could it be, though, that a seemingly humble machine from 2005 could keep up..... or even, just maybe, even out power it?

Of course not - what a ridiculous idea! But how far we have come in just over 10 years? This was the year both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 were unveiled, and the former actually came out. It wasn't a great gaming year for the PC, though we did get a few notable releases like Psychonauts and Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophecy - and Carol Vorderman's Suduko LOL - along with the almost instantly forgotten damp squid that was Quake 4.

If you wanted a game to show your rig at its best, chances are your game of choice was Far Cry, Far Cry's descendants are still benchmarks for visual loveliness

Welcome to the real world!

Been 17 years or so since I started using TGC products, holy ...

Lol just saw the new badges, pity that TGC had some issue way back and I had to re-register on the forums Else I'd have the real total Realgame tools still have some answering to do

This video is from 11 years ago now

To think... I haven't even been registered to the forums as long as I have been TGC products So I technically don't know how long I've actually been around the community. I recall poking around with Dark Basic Pro... the scorpion, plane flying over buildings and 3D first person cave runner. Does anyone remember DBP demos?

Oddly enough, the timespan from 2006 to 2010 felt three times as long as the one from 2010 to 2017. Perhaps this is related to age, perhaps work and perhaps the fact that I took longer breaks from game making and forum dwelling in this time period. Oh well!

Like Teabone, I've also started in late 2006. At first I was confined to the german FPSC forums because I haven't taught myself english yet.
I must admit that my first account has been banned from the TGC Forums around 2006 because I was very eager to share DarkMatter and 3DGameMaker content I converted for use in FPSC. I had no idea that this was piracy.
I made a comeback with my current alias quite some time later and it stuck. To an extreme, I might add...my girlfriend calls me "Wolf".

If you feel like checking out what I did way back in the day here are some links:

2004 - 2007

2007
(semi-mature content....contains one of George Carlins famous 7 words.)

2008

2009
To me, 2009 is where I've gotten semi competent and my design and art direction somewhat matured. The projects released afterwards where of a different caliber thus I'll stop the "way back" summary there. I still have .exes of some of these games, hit me up if you are interested.

It's because of the forum hooha at the time. I doubt anyone has longer than 13 years as that's when the new forum started Back in DB times.

It wasn't the Trago at Falmouth was it? All I ever find in there are remaindered books these days

Trago Mills story: 26 years ago Mrs wife and I bought a pine bookcase in Trago. Put it in the back of (don't laugh they were cool at the time) a ford capri, shut the back tailgate and broke the window on the car. That wasn't the bargain it turned out to be...

Then about 20 years ago I was working on an Italian barge out of Rotterdam, all the crew were Italian, except for our small subcontracting company, most of us were from Devon or Cornwall.
By the time we left the job we heard an Italian laughing at one of his english workmates rig boots in english, saying "where you get those f***ing boots, Trago f***ing Mills?". Yes, Trago Quality spoke for itself in those days....

anyway, I've learned a lot using TGC products over the years too, so thank you from me as well.
its like deja-vu, but all over again, again

I bought my first TGC product back in 2004 (DBPro). Didn't really get into FPSC, although I bought it when I read a forum post that said how to used it to create levels for DB. I have yet to complete one level of a game, lol. That's all on me, though, not TGC or their products. I change my mind and direction continuously.

To be honest i don't like the years feature on the forum, it's great to see how lng you've been here, but for those that don't know the history of TGC, and have a beef with GameGuru, it's just ammunition for them to yell things like "you've been working on gameguru for 14 years and you still haven't got x,y,z you suck".

Yes, but now they have something visible that in their warped minds will vindicate their accusations and make them come on even stronger.

I kind of like it, I can see your point of view Belidos but on the flip side it just proves the longevity of TGC and that they are serious about what they do and are not a fly by night company
