Hi. I - or rather Steam - has downloaded the latest update for me. EBE looks great BUT I notice mine does not have the door and window frame icons as I have seen in some of the videos. i.e: Cannot make doors or windows. Anybody know what I can do about this or am I just being dumb.

There aren't any, Lee decided not to include the prefabs, instead you cut the homes out and add your own door/frame models. If you go to the third party section of the forum there's a thread there for a prefab editor which you can use to make your own door and window prefabs.

Lee has put a small selection in " Fixtures " that you can use ..Doors, Windows and Roofs which you can use but the doors are mainly Sci Fi .... Maybe the plan is to add more ?

Many thanks for help gents, but I have to follow with a dumb question: what do I use to cut the openings? (I'm 79, so please forgive these mental blanks).

Hi Mike,

You can either delete the entire wall after placing the window / door, then fill the edges with the column & row tool. Or use the cube to delete (Shift+LMB) the area you need removed

Check out Lees Video

Yup, if you watch Lees video (posted above), he specifically does a mini tutorial on how to add door models and cut holes for them.

I also think we will add a simpler system in the near future to punch through the wall for doors and windows. As fun as it can be, I think most users just want an instant door

@Lee yeah, some math to work out the space in the opening and de-cube (For want of a better word) the wall space would be nice

Thanks to you all. I actually have watched the video but can't see everything well enough at its normal size, while it distorts if enlarged. (Frankly, I hate M4 video tutorials and would much prefer a decent pdf manual - which, I guess, just proves my age!).
Thanks again and regards to you all

Ooops - sorry, but I have one more dumb question then I promise I'll leave everybody in peace: pray tell - how do I delete just one segment?? All that happens is the whole construction is highlighted and then disappears when I press delete. i.e: how does one select just one segment. (I know there's an icon with a capital E and an up arrow but I cannot figure out how that works at all. I know Lee (Bless his heart and thanks for your reply too, Lee) does all this but its so fast I cannot follow it.

Morning Mike, to delete a segment (ie A single wall) make sure you are in EBE mode, then use the same segment piece selection and make sure the rotation is the same (inner/outer wall) using R, then Shift+LMB to delete.

The Whole structure disappears for you because you are in Entity mode, so GG recognises the structure as one entity due to the linking of segments when building in EBE mode.

EBE = Right click on structure and select edit

This is still quite new so please keep asking questions!

Also by default, some of the prefabs are set so that you have to have the same texture active on the segment to delete, it can be quite annoying, so i went into all my prefabs and changed the line that controls it, so now i can delete whatever i want with whatever i want, i forget which line it is, it's just a matter of changing it from 1 to 2.

Yeah the rotate caught me out a few times with inner and outer especially on different heights, how difficult would it be to have the selector a different colour on the front face or even a "I" and a "O" on either side?

Many thanks for all the help. Its great to see that the friendliness and helpfulness which made the old FPSC forum so outstanding continues in GG... A special word of thanks to Arfur for the segments and I sure hope, Earthling45, that you get a chance to write that pdf - I'm sure it'll be a valued addition to the docs section of GG files. (Must say, its something of a consolation to see that I wasn't the only one a bit puzzled about certain aspects!)
Thanks again and regards to you all
