I notice this is currently under development. Will you also be overhauling character AI in general? If so this would really make GameGuru start to resemble a viable game engine. The new EBE is marvellous but I went outside one of my nearly constructed building to taunt an enemy before darting back inside. And he never even bothered to come after me. I mean, this kind of thing is really letting the software down.

Thanks for sharing the video, a great rundown of the present issues! My aim for Feb is to ensure all characters behave themselves when dropped in by default, whether they are inside, outside, upstairs or dancing on the roof. I created a simple structure in the new Building Editor and my soldier character followed me inside. @lordjulian : Can you send me an FPM of the level you created so I can see the issue you are having?

Oh AI works fine with the EBE ..they will all chase you in and run about ... just not stairs or second levels like any other models at the moment

@Lee any chance while you're at it, we could have a Lua command or some kind of flag to turn off their fear of water. In the stand alone I posted a little while back I have a scene in a sewer with shallow ankle deep water. The AI act like there is alligators in the water and avoid it. So please if we could disable their fear of water would be sensational.

An lua command wont help ....
Its all to do with the terrain under their feet and for some reason water blocks it out ... Hopefully the overhaul will sort this at the same time

Yeah I remember when Lee hard coded the AI to avoid water when they were going under it and still shooting at the player, infinite breath hack and all , but for these types of scenes ( a sewer fight). We need to be able to tell the AI, it's OK, the water is not that deep and you will be fine..... You know until they get shot by the player any way.

The issue is not with the EBE. If the character is close enough he has no problem entering the building and walking around. The issue was caused by AI in general. The character was outside at one end of the building. I ran out, showed myself to him and then back to the entrance and back inside. I waited but he never came.

dancing on the roof is no problem, you can put a character up there and animate dancing easily already, it's walking on the roof that's the issue

Coming soon.
Ais working on any level will change many things here, that would be a great feature, enterable buildings take sense; right now they are only decoration around the scene, but no playables.
You can make a complete level inside a buiding, I remember a movie I saw times ago, about some cops going inside a dangerous building to capture some very dangerous drug traffickers, the operation had to be carried out with the collaboration of other police forces, but many of them were involved, so no one came to the rescue, and the six policemen were stuck in the building with all the mafiosi, looking for Kill them.

I would like to make this game style.

Will we be having new FPE inputs? I noticed in a lot of older 2D and 3D engines they had "step height" and "slope" values you could input to allow certain characters from going up steep slopes and others to not. Also prevent some characters that shouldnt be able to make it up stairs (for example a Dalek ) and others to do so.

An example (with a 45 degree angle for slopes):

Just an idea. Also these settings could be used for the player too. So if the player is in a car or things like that it be easier to control unique physics controls with the player. Though with that we'd need a deceleration FPE box for the player. But that's a whole other topic.
