Totally random question - is it possible to make the paint brush be square instead of a circle?

well in more research and trying things it appears this isn't an option at the present time

Some more brush shapes would be very useful, but that would come with a terrain editor update. It was pretty low down the list on the voting board, though.

You answered your own question, obviously, but I have to ask, were you trying to paint pavement on the terrain or something similar? The reason I ask is I've painted alley ways with the current brush and that's fine. it would be nice to have a square brush, though. Hopefully when more terrain textures are implemented that will be possible. In the meantime, we have to add assets to do the same.

This is semi-related, I don't like that when you have painted grass all over your map and then decide to change the terrain texture under it by painting... and it erases the grass... I dont want that to happen especially in the events when im using custom texture terrains that are not dirt but use the dirt terrain slot.

This though wasn't at all a project earlier on in Game-Guru's development since I was more reliant on the texture terrains provided by GG by default. I also understand why it was implemented from the beginning. Since its rare you'd actually see grass growing out of dirt

As mentioned, the best time would be when the terrain system is overhauled, as we will have to include the extra painting palette and the brushes could get an overhaul, perhaps even allow custom brushes much like the building editor uses.

i think it would have to be a template brush with a snapping feature and rotate like in the ebe editor to be of any use,
if you intended to do hard edges, it would probably be easier to make a hard edge eraser for shaping paths with a rotate
in mind, even and option of erasing corner or curved edges.

I'd love to know why you would need a square terrain brush? Do you have any examples? Cause all I see happening is texture stretching and unnatural edges.

He probably means more of a straight edge brush, so he can paint for example roads with straighter edges and ends, etc.
