I'm building a game for a month and always it ran nice. And now I run it and he stuck (And not continue) on "creating A.I obstacles" 15 Minutes, usually it passed after 10 seconds.

I think it happened after I do light map F4 (It took more than an hour) I have very big map.

When trying to load game
Used CPU - 13% + -
Used Memory 1300MB + -

my computer

I7 HQ
512 SSD
16GB RAM
GTX 960M 4GB

Usually means there's a script error, sure you didn't change or add any?

Now I try to re-install GG. hopping for good.
It is important to say that only this game makes problems and the rest working good.

Start the light mapping process again but press "esc" to cancel when it tells you can ....
Then try test game again ..
The only person ever to get all his work done by "Friday" was Robinson Crusoe..

Reinstalling not help.

how to start the light mapping process again If the game can not be loaded?

I noticed that the .frm file was yesterday 52MB and today 160MB and I did not put too much new models (Maybe some of MEGA PACK 3)
I tried to remove what I added but it does not work.

the file size increase is because of the lightmap, it stores the shadow info so it will take up more room after a lightmap.

you could try deleting all the characters you used (most likely easiest to do it by temporarily removing them from the entitybank) and then resave the map (under new name of course) then try to run it, without any characters the AI part "should" load much faster.

I did not add any character to the game. my map currently contains only models without animation or AI.

I tried to save as stand alone EXE file And it saves but stuck loading the game In the last third 2\3 (the loading after the menu).

Any animated trees? BTW, did you try syncromesh's suggetion to undo the lightmapping? Or, did you save your map before you lightmapped (ALWAYS a good idea)?

I remember this bug, and made a note of this:
...
Light map level.
Save level.
Open again , and delete some of the objects thats have been light mapped.
Save again.
Open again and try “test game”, it will crash.
There is no way to light map again.
You need to change the fpm file and delete all light map data.

stor: So you need to unzip the fpm file and delete all the lightmap data , and then zip another fpm file. If you do not know how to do that perhaps you should email it to synchromesh and take his kind offer

Yes I do have trees with animation. But they entered to the map in the early days and I had no problems.

Load this one up and save it under a new name so you have a backup in case you need to go back again...

Does anyone have the password To extract the files from FPM file? I thought check the visuals.ini file maybe there's a definition of Light map.

If your using the version I just posted it loads fine and runs for me ... however I did not have all the models so many don't get loaded in for me so perhaps one of those is giving you a problem ?

Perhaps the map got corupted.
It can happen in other engines like Unity or Unreal sometimes, the best is to make map archives manually.

stor: yes the version synchromesh made work fine , see screenshot

If you want to do it yourself the password is "mypassword". You will need to remove the folder "lightmaps" inside the fpm, and zip a new fpm file using the same password ""mypassword".

found it in my case it was fence.x in entitybank\mega pack 03\scenery\office & industrial props causing the stall at creating a.i obstacles.

I appear to have two version of fence.fpe one alone in "Mega Pack 03\Scenery\Office & Industrial props"

and one in "Mega Pack 03\Scenery\Office & Industial props"


which fpe was causing the problem the one with "notanoccluder = 1" or the one without ?

Change collisionmode = 1 to collisionmode =0, that will switch it to box collision instead of full collision, see if that helps.

That's strange they both have collisionmode = 1

I edited it originally to turn off collisionmode I set it to 0

will try again

UPDATE - nope did not make a difference, I set collisionmode to 0 and it still hangs for about 5 mins, it does eventually load and everything looks ok.

I'm getting a little frustrated now Level 1 fubar cos of EBE
level 2 terrain ebe texture palette issue
level 3 a bloomin fence

I will swap it out for chainlink I did want the security fencing though it fits with my scenery

Can somebody please confirm this is the fence causing issue and not my pc, I created a compound 20x20x20x20 fence panels then tried to run game,
if I am correct it should hang at creating a.i obstacles

I have attached a smaller version 11x11x11x11 it does not take as long but it still does it

It might be dodgy geometry on the model, i'll fire up fragmotion and take a look at it tonight when i get home.

also I verified files on steam yesterday, will that replace stock files that have been edited? I definitely set collision mode to 0 on the fpe yesterday,
I thought it just replaced missing files.

It's actually free. When you load it it will ask you to register, click cancel and wait about 10 seconds then click continue, it will load the full version, you just get a little smiley face and a message bubble pop up every now and again asking you to register, all paying for registration does is stop it asking you to register lol
