I'm trying to get ripples and wakes in the water, using vertices animation, in Max is almost achieved, but in GG the animation does not work, I can only see the animated boat, but the water is static, there is no water animation as in the video.

I've exported from max as X file all the scene, even hidden objects. (paths, helpers, splines, etc)

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for all feedbacks.

Is it only one animation,or one for the boat and one for the waves

Edit (this is just a idea ,but if it is 2 animations you might need to blend them together)

Unfortunately .x doesn't retain per vertex animation, you can animate up to a point using a vertex shader or key frame animate a 'block' such as a door or a chunk (or several chunks) of debris. To convert a simulation or morph data you have to find a way to transfer the animation to bones or dummy arrays and then use these with a skin modifier, it is a long and complicated process for little return, it can be done but isn't worth it for such a simple effect as above.

I could have gone further with this but as I said it isn't worth the work. You would also need several thousand dummies to get the full animation of that wake and that is going to be heavy on the processor.
