Try making your new sound in this .wav format.
22050HZ 16bit Mono .

See if that works better.

I am having a similar issue with 1.141

To make sure it wasn't a file I was using and just to test it I used the files that came with GG.

I load a classic zombie, I open the properties then go in and change any of the audio files to any of the standard audio files that come with. When I click apply the main screen goes black then it says it will load from a previous session.
It loads the map but it won't let me close the property screen or anything else I have to close it down and start over.

This happens EVERY time I try to change an audio file for a entity sound.
I have gone in and re verified my local files many times, I did it just a few minutes ago before the last test... there is ALWAYS something missing but it doesn't correct the problem.

I have a attached video screen grab .

At the end it freezes and I have to close the program.

Again character sounds must be mono to work. List out the sounds you are trying to use and I will test them. As silly as this sounds, they may need to be named the same way as the stock sounds are labeled. Check this out also.

If these sounds are not from the character sounds folder, then try and duplicate a folder of them in the character folder. Rename the folder, and replace the sounds inside the folders with mono sound named the same way.

The only stereo sound are the ones used for back ground music. All others should be mono.

Now you may also have a mono sound file with to high of a data rate. Check the file properties of the sounds file, or open it in a sounds program and check the data rate of it. Character sounds appear to be around 705kbps.

Thanks for the response,
I tried using the voice files that come with GG specifically;
audiobank/character/male/OnDeath/0.wav

To make sure it wasn't an audio file issue I only used files that came with the program to test, including the Zombie file.
First character under characters/Zombies/bandaged zombie.

I've used audio before. I understand how it works. I didn't have this issue before 1.141 unless it was the wrong kind of audio.

I just opened GG to a blank map.

Then added the Slow Zombie 4 entity.

I opened Properties and selected the same audio file that is listed in the 1st audio file slot then selected apply.
In other words I didn't change it just re selected it from the file list.

The same thing happened, it screen turned black then reloaded the last saved map and then froze me with properties windo still open.

I am thinking that there maybe an issue with my installation?

I am constantly having to verify files too.

It seems that every time I verify the integrity 11 or so files have to be reinstalled.

Not sure if that is normal, but thought I would add that.

Thanks again for checking this out.

I was thinking that it may be because they are getting chosen from the property panel. I was going to change them in the FPE file and test that first.

On the verification. The 11 files are more then likely the video at the beginning, and don't show the help menu at start files. Log files and little things like that. Now if you were missing 32 or 80 files then a corrupt install might be the culprit.

I am able to change the sound in the FPE file, works just fine.

OK on the Verification of files, that makes sense.

Good to know.

Ok, just rechecked these. I can change the sound file by either duplicating a character then changing the sounds in the FPE file, or changing them by the characters property panel, without errors. Both play side by side in the test game with the new assigned sounds.

Now I am on the private beta version at the moment, So hoping the next public preview release may be the cure to your issue.

Other then having you do a complete uninstall and reinstall, I don't have an answer for you, and I really don't want to have you go thru that at the moment. Let me check with another moderator who has multiple versions installed and see if they get the same results as you. Also I am not running win10, and they are.

Do you have the EBE stuff in your version of Game Guru right now?

Ok, had another moderator with win10 check this out and they did not receive an error either and could change the sounds thru the properties panel.

Perhaps you can email Lee at lee@thegamecreators.com and see what he can figure out. Please be detailed in your email and reference this thread.

Thank you very much for checking things out.. Yes I have the latest public preview version with the EBE.

If it gets worse I will email Lee, but I think I will just wait for the next update to see what happens.

I am ok with changing the audio in the FPE files and I am sure that it will get straightened out.

Appreciate your help!
