Hello,

I am facing some work, converting a lot of Texture-Sets that are *.tga File format to *.dds File Format.
These Sets do come with Third Party Contend.

I want to use GIMP for the conversion.

(1) Please do let me know, which settings You do use f.e. for GIMP, to make the files work nice with GG and dont explode in terms of sise (MBs).
I attached a screen, showing the different export options, that GIMP uses for *.dds files:
Compression, Format, Save (Selected Layer - I would think), Mipmaps (No mipmaps?) and Advanced Options.

(2) Is there a good kind of Mass-Conversion for GIMP doing such a procedure?

That would be very great, BEFORE I start a lot of work and to have to overwork the files once again.
Please do let me know

The configuration may vary, depending on the type of image, for example the crystal may be transparent or semi-transparent; A brick wall may have relief, using specular, etc.
A texture may contain transparent or semi-transparent parts; In which case a dxt5 compression would be fine; The case is that all textures should be more or less compressed.
Some values that can serve as a guide for a normal texture:

Compression = dxt1
Format = default
Minimaps = yes. They coming handy when lightmaping.
Advance options = you do not need to touch.

Hello 3com,

thank You for Your hints and help
I will work that settings.

Edit: Did try that out. Works great. And the created compressed *.dds files are smaller (in diskspace MB) than the *.tga Files they came from.
Really neat
