Hi guys ,
does anyone know how to lower the ploygon count of the skybox ?
When you look straight up in the air at it my poly count goes over 300,000.
isnt that a bit high ?

Thx

Ok ,
tried some stuff and its seems to lower if
mapsize and camera viewrange are decreased.
so it will vary from 300,000 down to 19,000 or so
depending on mapsize and mountains on an empty map.

wow ...live and learn with Game Guru....wohooo

Average skybox is only 12 faces and not even all those are ever in view Use F11 to turn off terrain and check again to be sure, your high poly count isn't from the skybox, unless you are using a custom created one..

thx Rolfy ,
good idea !
tried it and did all the stuff in there on and off..
with all on = 1,400.00
with TERRAIN OFF = 1,100,000
LMOS OFF = 600,100
ENTITIES OFF = 167,000

taking out each one in a row.
so , any further idea on how to lower the polys in a playable game ??
is a FLAT terrain better >>>
What the heck is LMOS ?

Thx again Rolfy.

Actually now that I think on it turning of terrain will only remove from render and not completely remove faces, if you have a sculpted terrain you will notice you still have physics with it. So though you will see a huge fps increase it doesn't mean it isn't still there.
Try setting superflatterrain=2 in setup.ini to force it to a plane this should help a lot with poly count and using this in conjunction with goindoors.lua should help with performance in indoor scenes more than simply removing the shader render. If you do intend to use superflatterrain=2 then set it up before building as in the past I found the terrain plane had shifted up a lot compared to default and put the player above the build.

[href]null[/href]Ok ,
I think I worked some things out in order to decrease overall Poly count.
Please let me know if you think I'm going in the wrong direction...or...whatever else I can
try to do to improve it also.
here's the steps i did so far.......

Camera distance = 30
Terrain size = 20
fog near = 0
fog distance = 70
fog intensity = 100
occlusion = 50
Shadows = 20
LOD near = 40

Before doing these setting my poly counts was between 260,000 and 450,000 in the EMPTY map
now its runs around 65,000 - 70,000

Try it below,,if you like.

let me know what else you think might help.

Thx
