Hey guys.

If it's not too hard, I want to retexture some parts from the vanilla asylum stuff. Do you know what I mean? I mean the ones at:

entities/Buildings/Asylum

Is it hard to retexture them? Is there anyone who can do this and help me maybe?
That would be very cool

How to re texture an object using GIMP
Plugins required for this.
DDS plugin:
http://registry.gimp.org/node/70
Photo2Normal Plugin:
http://registry.gimp.org/node/69

Prep:
goto the folder:

Make a duplicate of the textures you want to change. Rename them so they wont get over written by an update, Also I would rename the FPE files also so you will have 2 sets when complete. The original, and the new ones you are doing.

Open the _d.dds file in gimp. Notice the way the textures are laid out. You will need to keep the same pattern and change the sections within them.

When done painting your changes, then RMB on the picture and choose image and flatten image.

Choose File, Export as, It should choose the same texture name automatically,
Except the replace prompt.

The save as DDS windows appears. Under compression choose bc3/dxt5 option and press ok.
This is for objects with windows in them for the window to be transparent.

When you are done with the texture correction and changing part.

Open the FPE file for the object you are working on.
Change the header info inside at the top and put in you new texture name.

Save the file and close it.

Erase any .dbo files in that folder.

You are now ready to test it in the game engine.

Ironically I *JUST* posted about my adventures retexturing/adding weathering to existing textures a few weeks ago:

Was gonna mention paint.net. hi all. Anyway yeah just overlay the image with your choice of textures and save

I would just copy the entire asylum file and save it in a storage area first.

Then edit the textures in the asylum gameguru this will save the original file and editing the ones in the file will save a lot of messing about

When happy with your version change the asylum file name to duchenkuke asylum. Then bring back original asylum file so you have 2 asylums and no file messing
an unquenchable thirst for knowledge of game creation!!!
