Is there by any chance an EZ to use tool that I can use to edit an .x file or mesh so I can add if needed a bone/limb and/or fire spot????

Just asking because Blender wayyyy out of my league !!!

Sounds like you need fragmotion.

I use it for all my rigging, bone-editing and other simple mesh edits.

If you want an easy modelling app, check out Milkshape 3D - it's the only one easy enough for me to use. It's not free but cheap. Also, it works well with Fragmotion - I think you can export from Fragmotion as a Milkshape file or maybe vice versa, not sure.

While it is easy to use, you can not import an animated .x file into it. With fragmotion you can.

Yeah there's actually very few modelling programs that will import .x, most export .x but only a few import it. Fragmotion and Ultimate Unwrap are two.

Question,

I've downloaded several models from this forum and i want to share my models with you all.
The problem is, i'm a noob at Blender, for some reason i can't select the whole model which is obviously needed to convert it from collada to X.
Yesterday i've downloaded a modelviewer, 'open3mod' which enables me to view the model and also export it as an X file, however, GG is not able to import it.
See attached files, while these are fairly simple, i've been moddeling with sketchup in the past and made a few models for farmingsimulator 3 years ago which obviously can be used for GG as well

Is there a good guide for Blender to convert and export models to GG?

Blender exports as .X ....
You just need to enable .X Export in the preferences by ticking the box.

It's simple in blender.

1. Enable .x export: File > user preferences > add-ons tab, then find on the list Import/Export: Direct X X Format (note it is actually only export, there is no properly working import for .x in blender yet), tick the box, then hit save user settings and close the window.

2. Select ALL objects in your model, you do this by right clicking one of the objects, then use shift+right click to select each of the rest

3. File > Export > DirextX (.x)

4. Name the file, choose your options (bottom of the tool menu on the left), click Export DirectX

Here's the first in a series of videos that details exactly ow to make models, uv unwrap, texture, export and import them into GG using Blender, i highly recommend watching the whole series.

Not thinking that entity workshop will allow you to make bones and attach it to the rig. Was not that kind of program.

Animer will if you have it.
Fragmotion can do this also. This will take a few shots to get the FIRESPOT bone orientated right in Game Guru.
This is your best bet right now.
email me your .blend file and I see if I can get it to 3ds max and get it exported out as animated x file.
Let me know which hand you want it in. Send the textures also and the xfile you have, FPE and bmp file also.

Blender is probably one of the hardest 3D programs to get into. Once you get a good list of shortcuts things become easier though. I find as I don't use it often I forget them all the time. Is it shift a or ctrl a? I often forget which for changing scale and adding a mesh etc. It is pretty good once you get used to them though. I do miss 3ds MAX however, as it is just way easier to navigate and do things, or was, not used it since V3. I've yet to find a free alternative that is better than Blender though.

getting static objects out of truespace is no problem. now skeleton animation is tricker. I brought a guru skeleton into TS via bvh. Rigged it with out a problem. Exported out as a .x. The animation works in fragmotion and other programs but not in guru. I hope to get it working one day.

Was the animation you used in GG the Truespace export or did you try exporting again from Fragmotion? Just curious, not that I would know why one would work over the other, lol. Truespace 6.something was one of the first 3D modeling programs I ever bought (it was around $400 at the time), just before v 7 and when Microsoft bought Caligari and shut them down, and it became free. At the time I was messing with DBPro and could never get any animation from Truespace to work there, either. I never understood why Microsoft made that move. To this day, as far as I know, they have no modeling software of their own.

It was the truespace export. The exporter from the TS 7.61 side.

TS was supposed to work with microsoft's virtual earth and xna platform.
