I think we seriously need something to protect scripts used in GG. As you guys may know i have 3 games on the make 1 finished (bar a couple of things) 1 mainly being the scripts Dropzone2150 alone contains over 110 scripts quite a few of these are bought from the store etc. By releasing any game i make containing these scripts i therefore would be effectively giving someones hard work away for free.
This presents a moral problem for me as i don't think that's fair and this is partially the reason i am holding back. Does anyone know of a good way to protect/encrypt them that works well with the standalone? Let me know please if you do and also can we get this implemented into the engine as i really think its a must for anyone wanting to make/release a game.

Completely agree - you can compile lua and it obscures it fairly effectively, I think this should be built into the engine when creating standalones.

Until then HockeyKid came up with a utility - https://forum.game-guru.com/thread/213124

Cheers.

Thanks cybernescence, i did try that but im having mixed results, maybe because of the sheer amount of scripts i have in the game, but while i wait around for 1.4 i'll play around with it

All models and textures are already encrypted in standalone ....
everything encrypted has an e_ in front of it ... Try opening a texture you will see what I mean ..

Hi there,

I'm working on a solution to this problem, still in the testing phase, and it probably will be presented to the public, after the releasing of the update of the AI Scripts Aircraft.

Cheers,
-Northern

Sounds really good Northern m8, we could do with something i personally am not very good at Lua i can sort of adjust things but i get how hard it is to write the more complicated scripts and it all takes time so some protection for the guys who work hard on them i personally think is a good thing, nice to know someones working on this
