If you can't use blender then there's not much you will be able to use, I use blender on my work laptop which is and IBM thinkpad with the barest minimum of graphics, if yours can't handle it then I'm surprised if you can run anything.

What are the specs on your graphics card? Like Belidos said, it shouldn't take much to run Blender, unless you're doing some rendering, in which case, it should just take longer. Some folks have mentioned Wings3d, I've also used Milkshape. Is it no longer for sale? Truespace is free, and pretty powerful, interface takes getting used to, but don't they all? There are many others out there.

Wings 3D: http://www.wings3d.com/?page_id=84

Truespace (a few editions available, I would start with the last stable release by Caligari, mid-page): http://kabrite.com/truespace/?page_id=10

DeleD: http://www.delgine.com/

Anim8or (I can't believe it's still around, it was the first modeling program I ever downloaded. Haven't used it in about 15 years! I don't think it exports DIrectx, though, but does export .3ds, which also works in GG): http://www.anim8or.com/#Features

gmax, another oldie (requires TurboSquid login to register. Years since I used this one, as well, pretty sure it doesn't export Directx but again 3ds should be fine: http://www.turbosquid.com/gmax

I almost forgot fragmotion: http://www.fragmosoft.com/

Lol, you piqued my curiosity so I did much of the searching for you. A nice little trip down memory lane on a Sunday morning. There are others out there, though, these are just the few that popped into my mind right away. If you are unable to run any of these, then you seriously need a new computer. Minimum on most of these is Win98, so if you are still running Win 95 or before, how are you even able to post on this forum?

BTW, you obviously haven't run GG on your computer, either, so just curious, what brought you here?

This is probably the best for what you have hardware wise.

Its online and free.
It produces low poly output but you have start some place.
No point in even trying to make high poly models your system just cant handle it.

There's lots of free ones that work really well but if you did like milkshape here's where you can buy it(you mentioned you were trying so I thought I would post the link)

If you're just starting MilkShape is well worth the $35 registration cost. It is a great basic 3D modeling system, has some great tools for doing texturing, and comes with dozens of format import and export. It's .X export is very GameGuru friendly.

I've moved on to blender, but I still use Milkshape to create the final .X for GG.

Good luck
