I'm pretty sure most of us have encountered that annoying light mapping issue where you get odd shadows around patches of sunlight when there shouldn't be any light there, for example a door projecting the shadow of its frame but a patch of light as if the sun is coming through the doorway even when the door is closed. This is something to do with walls/doors etc needing to be a minimum thickness for the light mapper to work.
Well, today I was wandering around outside work when I noticed that the real life light mapper is broken too, note in the pictures below how my shadow is a different direction to the building shadows, and how there are patches of light in the wall shadow as if the sun is shining through them, but that would mean the sun should be inside the building.
I know what's caused it, it's basically the sun reflecting off of the windows at the perfect angle and intensity, but it looked so much like the light mapping issues we have I just had to take a picture and share it with you guys, had a good old chuckle when I saw it.
Looks like the GameGuru light mapper is more realistic than we thought!
