Do you think there is any mileage in offering a stereoscopic/anaglyph 3D mode for games these days ... or will it all be VR now?

Working on a shader that is getting promising results ... though the screenshot obviously won't look too good unless you have some red/cyan 3d specs to view it with:

Those glasses might be kinda hard to come by these days, although I can't say I've looked for them. I think I might even have a pair stashed away somewhere (cardboard). While I'd rather have the VR ASAP (Just got my OR CV1), this might have to do for now! I think, in a way, it would compliment the whole steam punk style of your game, though!

Thanks Jerry something to think about. I guess it's unlikely to be that popular but it might fit with the 'retro' vibe a bit as you say .

I'm looking forward to the VR though haven't got a device yet. Does the post-rift.fx shader in the GG effect folders work with your new rift? I see that it is still there but not sure if this was powering the earlier rift capability?

Now you've got me thinking along those lines too, wonder what else is needed for rift & GG. Even with just the anaglyph approach the depth perspective is kind of fun in game so I imagine VR is awesome.

Cheers.

I didn't even know it was there! When they took riftmode out of the setup.ini I thought it was all gone! I'll give it a try.

Just a warning that I myself have not played with the rift-mode since I did my experiment with the DK1 over a year ago, so the chances of it working now are extreme I have added VR Support to the voting board recently so we can now assess whether the community want this down as a core feature!

I tried it with the DK1 (I figured that was the only one that had a chance of working) just a little while ago and it just crashes. I also tried it with Reloaded Beta 1.009 and it crashed as well (illegal screen size; I think you had already removed it by then). I use the DK1 on my laptop still with UE4 4.8 and CV1 on my desktop with 4.8 as well.

If you leave it as an optional extra I don't think anyone would complain I wish I had some glasses to see what that screen looks like in 3D!

Newegg http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA1HE0FB3358 and Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Red-blue-Anaglyph-3D-Glasses-game-Extra/dp/B003LWYGPE have some pretty cheap anaglyph glasses.

Haven't picked up a pair yet, but that seems a lot cheaper route than a VR headset. The glasses are cheap enough we could even give away free pairs, or maybe the cardboard versions, with a physical copy of our games (yes, I'm getting ahead of myself).

I use an Acer GR235H 3D Monitor ....
Most fps games are already optimised through the Nvidia driver so if 3D is enabled they will autostart in 3D
GG isn't but I can manually turn it on GG Looks pretty cool .... and its no red and green ...its sunglasses like in the cinema

That's cool must get the depth info from the driver somehow for the 3D monitors.

I seem to have loads of red/cyan glasses around (hardly ever chuck anything away obviously).

Think I'll do a little bit more on the anaglyph even if it's just for novelty / optional extra value.

Cheers.
