hi there. i do not often have requests but this time it is so special that i can't find a workaround and maybe you can help me.
for "safe house" i need an old damaged school bus like in the picture. but it needs to have a workig door and it must be enterable for i want to place the win zone inside the school bus so that the player has to find a key to get into the bus and win the game. i have no other solution, i was thinking about this for 2 weeks now and this would be the best solution.
i would really appreciate if someone of the many skilled artists here could help me with this. i can help with sound effects and all kinds of sound stuff just ask me.
i have a picture of a school bus that looks perfect (it's a post apocalyptic zombie world) and if you like you can also use this school bus maybe it's easier. if you want to i can send you the model. i downloaded it from the forum but it's no longer available.

NOTE: if you have some other car like a bus, a big truck or whatever that can be entered and has a door i will also take it. the vehicle needs to be big enough to bring 30 survivors out of a zombie infested town and look a little damaged but not too damaged to drive.

i know it's a big one but i have no other idea how to finish my game. when i got this working i can finish it.

thanks for reading this

I won't be able to get to it until the weekend, but if you email me the model, i'll see what I can do. No guarantees though, my granddad has just passed so I don't know whether i'll have time, but i'll try.

It shouldn't be too hard to separate the door from the bus and have it animate if it already has an inside.

Thanks, but I don't react to death like most people, it doesn't really effect me much, the way I see things is that from the moment we draw our first breath we start the countdown to death, it's the nature of a linear existence. It's the hassle of arranging the funeral and clearing his house out that's gong to keep me busy for a couple of weeks.

Probably best if you either email it to me, or put it on dropbox or similar and pm me the link rather than posting it here, just in case.

my grandpa died last year and he was over 90. this is okay, after a long life he was allowed to go although i was sad to not having him around anymore. but when someone dies in his 50s like my uncle and my aunt it's really a tragedy. okay. sorry for being so off topic.

i will mail you the bus tonight and you have all time that you need! thank you

You will need a 4 foot door to be able to get in it. The collision will be insane if you put to much detail in it.
In the new beta being tested, The custom collision features allow for a much better calculation.

This should be out this week we think.

hm i hope it will work. i just need a door in that bus and the player just needs to get into the bus to reach the win zone. the door also has a big back door that can also be used, maybe it's easier ?

PirateMykes right, you can't enter the bus. I'm not sure why but I don't think it's because of the size of the doorway, because as a test I mad the bus huge and I still couldn't go inside it, despite setting the collision for inside spaces, here's what I have so far:

oh, you are fast is it possible to remove all interior collision? could this help? i wouldn't need the seats to be in the way. this backdoor looks and works great.

I have two possible solutions to this.

*what might be needed is two models. A static with collision, no doors, invisible texture and a dynamic one that when prompted opens the door and turns its collision off.

*or you could make one static model of the bus with no doors and separate dynamic models for the doors.

Hope this helps.

I'll have to look further into that, sounds like a good pan.

I'm not sure why you can't enter it, the bus and door are now separate models, and even when enlarged in blender and the collision modes set the same as any other enterable structure It just doesn't seem to be enterable, it looks like there's something in the model stopping it, but in blender I can't find anything, i'll look at it over the weekend when I have more time.

@Belidos
Can you email me the x file or which ever flavor you are trying to import or use. myke1net at hotmail.com
I will take a look at it.
What is the total poly count on the model?

I don't have it here at work with me so I can't say how many poly's it is, but i'll email you what I have when I get home tonight.

I had to convert it (using fragmotion) to an obj to get it into blender (I would have done the work in fragmotion but I don't know how to use it) first, then made the changes and saved it as a .X file.

I'll email you the entitybank files I have so far as well as the blend file and obj file so you can look at it at all stages.

Hopefully between us we can get it working to Nuncio's needs, and of course it would be great if you found what was wrong and was able to explain it to me so I can avoid it with future models

If not, i'll see if I can use it as a template to make one from scratch for him.

It is enterable without doors?
Does you set CollisonOff in the doors script?

Wthat happens if you place player marker inside the bus?, just 4 try.

@ nuncio
Glad you like, anyway it is not a bus. Hopefully Belidos does the trick.

Nope, that's the first thing I tried when it didn't work, I enlarged it in blender and exported it again (to make sure it wasn't too small to enter) and tried entering it without the door, it wouldn't let me go in, I checked the fpe and the collision mode s right, I even added the simple objects line just in case. Yet the model itself according to what I can see in blender has all that's needed to be enterable.

The door script works fine. It's a normal door script and works fine if I drop the door onto say a house with a doorway.

I've actually managed to fix it, it was a combination of (as PirateMyke mentioned) the seats getting in the way, and the step being too high. So I've made the seats narrower, and you will have to use a crate or something to step into the bus, that's not a bad thing actually, you could use the pickup and drop script and make a mini-puzzle out of dropping a crate to get in

I want to do some tidying up and stuff before I pass it back to you, but it's pretty much sorted now, thanks for the tips PirateMyke and 3Com.

There is nothing wrong in the model. only some seats closer to widen more so the corridor, this will allow you to walk inside the bus.

i have photogrphic evidence that this does work just like i wanted it to. i used it with a collecting script. the player must find 5 jerrycans before he can enter th ebus and trigger the win zone. everything works!

No it will probably not be available in the store or for free. The model isn't his own model but one that is sold on another site (i think it was turbosquid) and thus we don't have the rights to redistribute it, we just edited it for him so the door will open and it will work in gameguru, hence why all he files were emailed privately.
