I would like to see a spot in the entity properties list in the editor to exempt a particular entity from light-mapping. If not in the editor then a command in the "FPE" file that would exempt the entity from the light mapping process.

Any thoughts?

Well, you could set the object as dynamic. That way the dynamic shadows are used anyway. I don't think it will cause much speed impact if any.

Couldn't you then set it back to static after baking?

You would have no shadow then, so I suppose it depends on the scenario. Well I assume you wouldn't

yes you could but then it might reset the bake process or cause it not to have a shadow. you can just set the dynamic object as a immobile object which make it not move and no hit on the performance because it has no physics of movement. this what I mean we keep wanting more and more feature added to guru editor system and there is always a to fix the problem our selves.

@MXS
I never asked for new feature. I asked for THOUGHTS by other users on how I might solve a problem with light-mapping. When I ask for a new feature it will be an obvious request for a feature not for conversation.

From the post I have learned that setting the defaultstatic = 0 in the entity FPE file solves my problem.

FPE setting
castshadow = 0

Problem solved

Whether or not it works I am not sure but the flag is there.
