Very well done! How did you achieve this? I am looking forward to having reflective surfaces and mirrors. Shame it doesn't seem to be very high in the voting list.

Very cool (no pun intended)! Be careful jumping on that ice, even wizards can freeze to death! I'm curious as well how you did that. The reflections were very subtle like they should be.

Just the water reflection I imagine. You can use it as a glass type floor if you want. Of course there's no way to to the same with entities as yet, the water shader doesn't work on them. I didn't watch the entire video though so may have missed something. I don't know how you have the patience to use GG on your rig, judging by the video fps! I'm trying to save for a new base and I get way better than that!

Ya. I'm playing with water shadows as pointed above.
Using "water_basic.fx" effect in .fpe file, transparency=3, and if you use "materialindex = 19", you get the sound of water steps,

In the video I've use simple plane wih ice tuxture, alpha channel. Some terrain around to make match with the rest of the scene.

Also re-texture many of the stock rocks, and trees, to be snowed.

Just working a bit in a old ice hotel I've parked, when I've the idea to done some reflections, just to resolve the scene, and it works, at least till we have mirrors effect.

Often I wonder myself.

Lol. I feel for you. I do manage to get decent FPS in small scenes normally, with fps dropping as I try to make it bigger and less empty, but it looks like you have it a lot worse. It's a pity laptops are so limited when upgrading, a better video card would do wonders.

I tried to make a mirror shader for GG in the past using dark shader. It crashed GG out completely and I didn't really look into it any further. I tried the default water shader on a flat box as well but it looked very odd and not like water at all. Someone did release a water effect for free some time ago which was pretty nice, gave a bit of depth to water and the impression of it flowing, that may help you if you can find it out (if you haven't already got it of course).

I'had got mirror effects, but mirror has to be horizontal pos, does not get it working in vertical pos yet.
so I have not getting anything yet, since mirror is intended to be, in vertical position.

Now that you mention it, I remember somebody doing a little scene with the street and sidewalks just under the water plane, making it look like it had rained (or maybe it was raining, I don't remember exactly). Looked pretty convincing.

Nice work 3com, I have been looking for a way to reflect for a long time.
HP Pavilion Laptop, AMD A8-4555M APU with Radeon(tm) Graphics HD Graphics 1.6GHz, 8GB Memory, 64 Bit Operating System (Windows 10), 1 TB Hard Drive.

I've got something to say - It's better to burn out than fade away.
