Hi all,

I really want to start creating my own entities. I'm too inept to use Blender so I use Milkshape 3D. I find it generally very easy and user-friendly. The one thing I can't seem to get to grips with is the texture coordinates editor. If someone could please post a link to comprehensive documentation on this feature or an easy tutorial I would be most grateful.

Or perhaps someone could just give me the basics of this feature...?

Many thanks!
Julian

I could never figure how or if you could uv map in milkshape. I just exported out to a stand alone uv mapper then brought it back into milkshape.

Milkshape's UV editor drove me crazy! Blender's is way more straight forward. I haven't used Fragmotion's yet, but I only recently realized it had one.

I choose to go with blender just because of the sheer amount of videos out there, not so many for milkshape or wings I found, but blender, every aspect, every function, every menu item, there's a video about it, its actually pretty straight forward once you establish the workflow

If your still overwhelmed a bit and are just making "boxy" low poly models there's always two
old & easy UV mappers called " UV Mapper Classic" & "LithUnwarp"
They unwrap for you and make a texture map. (low poly only)
http://www.uvmapper.com/downloads.html
http://www.geeks3d.com/20090303/lithunwrap-free-uv-mapper-for-windows/
They're both free. Maybe try those till you feel more comfortable? I know the feeling.
It took me along time of trial and error to understand it.
best luck

I never figured that out either so I just went with fragmotion for my UV's.

Yeah, I prefer fragmotion over milkshape for uv mapping, rigging, skinning, animation. Still using truespace 3d for my lowpoly modeling.

I wish the video set i learned on Milkshape was still up. -ISO- was a very good teacher. This is the next best thing I could find. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wWDTfbrVb1A
