hi there! i have a big question to know if it makes sense to continue working or to throw this idea away.
i just played "day of the tentacle remastered" and now i want to make a new point and click adventure. i already made a point and click adventure and i played it today. i use a software called "visionaire studio" wich is really great for making adventures. it is in 2D like the classic games "monkey island" and so on.
now just an idea: i build a scene in game guru, light it and make screenshot wich will be my scene background for a possible adventure. interactive objects can be placed and a new screenshot can make it usable for visionaire. there is some additional artwork necassary with gimp. this can be done. it's a lot of work but it's possible. now i would have a scenery with some objects. now i need a playable character and a few non playable characters.
these characters are just 2D animations like in a cartoon movie. many animations for every possible action can be made and activated when needed.
now my question. is there any possibility to make pictures and animations of one of the game guru characters. a selfmade character or one of the terrorists. i would need to have 2D pictures of the character walking from left side, walking from right side, walking frontal and so on. walking takes a few frames with the different body movements to be run like a little cartoon animation. so when you tel the playable character to move to a place it walks to the point and you see the "walking animation" to make it look believable.
is there a possibility to make such pictures with game guru charcters? it would look realistic if the characters from the game guru stock would populate this adventure world.
but i don't know if this is even possible.

i hope you know what i mean, this is a very special request

greetings, mike

If you imported the characters into a programme that can view the animations frame by frame (I believe fragmotion can) then you could easily grab screenshots from there.

you can also do it in GG itself with a quick script to change the frame/animation etc.

I've been thinking about doing this back in FPSC days but it never came to be. I was also thinking about the characters:

What you do is, you export the frames you need as "poses" in fragmotion, now you import them into marmoset toolbag (if you have it) where you will get better rendered screenshots. Here you can also adjust from where the light will hit your character and adapt them to your scenes. If you don't have toolbag you can just use any other 3D model software where you can view animation frame by frame, its just that the quality will be lesser.

I also corrected your title and removed that additional post

I read your post earlier and I thought I might be able to use Fragmotion to export in fbx format to DAZ studio where I could render each animation frame with lighting. I've been trying ever since. It failed, sorry! I also thought of capturing screenshots of each frame in Fragmotion. I think that's the easiest way to go. I gotta look up Marmoset toolbag.

You could use the "SPRITE Tool" in fragmotion to render the frames and touch them up in a photo program.

Didn't even know that was there! I think I've learned more these past few days than I have in the last year. Thank you!

I wrote a DB program to capture animation frames and display them in an atlas sheet quite some time ago. I used it for AGK sprites. Not got it now, as far as I know, but worked great for an isometric idea I was working on at the time.

I think someone released a program similar to it (with more polish and options) which I considered, but ended up just using my own (it did the same job). Can't remember the name, but I'm sure TGC used to sell it.

I was thinking of old click adventures the other day as well, pretty sure it's possible in GG, albeit with a lot of work.

There are these links also.

Talks about a different variety of software.

Unity can do this for you also.
http://forum.unity3d.com/threads/sprite-maker-convert-3d-to-2d.232302/
Get the above from there asset store.

Blender users can use this method.
http://blog.gemserk.com/2011/07/20/building-2d-sprites-from-3d-models-using-blender/

The truth is that you can open these models in a model program and render out the frames as .png images, then in a paint program assemble them like a decal.
