Is there a comprehensive list of all the authors' contacts of the FPSC Model Packs? I've just converted 80% of all the recently publicly released Model Packs for Game Guru compatibility and am inquiring about the free distribution within the community.

1,000's of decent quality models I have made available for Game-Guru. I've actually been working on this task since FPSC Reloaded. I was intending to connect with TGC directly around boosting the quality and making them fully compatible with Game-Guru for a potential future DLC but it seems these models have now been made public and open source.

If someone can advise on the legalities of this potential free distribution within the community, that would be of a huge benefit for everyone looking for free assets. I have my own server to host the GG compatible content. I've only included models that are part of packs released on the GitHub.

In the following link is what I have so far that is available for download:

Hi perelect, Model pack 40 and 48 are the only packs that I developed. I think Model pack 5 was a weapons pack? i can't remember, it's been so many years.. I am not sure who the artist was in this case.

Hi Teabone,

If you'd like to send me a list of the packs you've converted, I'll see if I can get a list for you.

It seems you can already use 40,48, 66 and 76.

Thanks SC -- Primarily the list here: https://github.com/LeeBamberTGC/FPS-Creator-Classic

Though I haven't touched the weapons specific packs. May leave that for someone more skilled in that area to tackle. Very much appreciate the support for this from the community and authors. Lot of great content in these packs and they look wonderful in Game Guru. I've started working on some of the characters as well.

In the attachment is an example of what some of the stock WWII furniture, vehicles and collectible items look like in GG.

I've also been converting segments into to snap-able wall, floor and ceiling entities. So people can start building interiors with the stock WWII and Sci-Fi segments. For that I will need TGC's approval however, to distribute as well.

@Teabone

TGC would be happy to host the GameGuru versions of the media in the same way we have hosted the FPS Creator versions, that way it avoids any bandwidth for you and will also keep them available if you ever change server or move on. So once this is done if you let me know I can give you FTP access to upload the files somewhere we can be sure they are accessible for everyone. We can also ensure permissions are obtained for all the packs we released.

This will be great. I have noticed 3 to 4 users starting to convert these packs.

Maybe I should start a thread in the free media section, just for all the converted Classic pack links once they are completed. Keeping these all together. Sticking the link so it is easily obtainable by all.

As the next said, they could store them the way open source stuff is done right now, taking the maintenance burden off of you in 3 or 4 years.

Should I go with the assumption that all authors that have approved free distribution of their model packs for FPSC wouldn't mind them being converted and alerted for use in GG? I have not included any assets that were not listed on the public open source site.

I've basically packed all related content into "Collections" themes. So for instance all Zombies (zombie doctor, zombie with guns, WWII zombies, modern zombies) have been placed in a single collection. This means that a single collection could contain numerous FPSC Model Pack assets. I've taken note of which model packs are included in each collection.

I've done this so that we could have less mess and keep everything more organized and unified. As some packs contained very few assets that could easily been packed with other packs of the same theme. For instance Egypt has multiple packs so I've compiled them all into one Collection.

Anything that has been released as open source on the GitHub page should be fine for release for GameGuru but before releasing I will get confirmation for you.

I think that way of organizing makes sense for users that want to import into GameGuru.

Model packs 63 and 70, no problem with you doing whatever you like with these. You may have to tinker with scripts though to get these working in GameGuru. The Hellbound Demons have found there way into GG Fantasy pack already but are superior in many ways to the old ones. All the same you might want to check with TGC if okay to include these into any converted for GG bundle. I would go ahead with the video texture versions since this is included in the voting board for the future

Model pack 63 is primarily segments with animated destructible walls and again you got a fair amount of work for you converting these. They were a compliment to the stock sci-fi and ww11 segments so if you already converted these it might be a simple matter of replacing the dynamic wall. I reckon I may have referenced the stock meshes for static walls so may not be such a huge job, can't remember since this is all ancient history.
Use entity_basic.fx shader as these are vertex animations.

Thanks Rolfy! For the winged demons I won't be touching this since they are already in Game Guru. This will be the same case for all assets that are in Game Guru already and in DLCs.

Below is a quick demo of some the FPSC stock WWII objects, items, furniture and 2 segments (bunker floor and walls). They do not contain any normal or specular maps in this preview. Music is also from FPSC WWII stock.

Thanks! They are going to look even better when I get all their normal and spec textures done.

Do I have TGC's permission to distribute the WWII and SCI-FI stock content?

I started working on the segments as well though they act quite strange in GG. I believe some of the walls were generated below ground level. In the example video above the room is actually floating quite high above the terrain ground. What is quite exciting, however, is they seem to snap quite well so far. Similar to the segment editor in FPSC. We need a new feature for the ability to paint segments rather than place manually each time. As this can be quite tedious in GG. For example holding down the mouse button to place an object should allow you to continually place them when your in snap mode. Holding SHIFT to place each time still requires that you click to place, rather than click and hold. In FPSC it would take seconds to make a basic room. In GG it takes minutes. Glad to see easy building tool is in the top of the feature list as this would mean Lee could than take a look at improving the snapping mods. I'd love to see an actual toggle snap button on the actual engine window so we can visually see what mode we are currently on.

I hope to recreate an entire map using just the WWII stock assets in GG and as well as a SCI-FI map. Showing all the interior structures with multiple floors floors as well.

Teabone, I can help you with the weapons.

I have started with FPSC_MP_58, the WW2 weapons. (I have not found any other weapons yet, but I only had a quick look through the packs.)

They are all in GG and working, but they need lots of tweaks and modifications to get them just right.
It looks likes a little bit of everything, needs to be adjusted to come into GG.
ie: sounds, decals, brass, positioning, musslefalsh, hud images, projectiles, etc.
So it might take me a while.

Again, thanks to all the artists that released all of these great models.

Cheers

Just waiting for confirmation from all authors who have agreed to the public release for GG. I've got over 1000 assets converted over. I'm currently just working on normal and spec maps for those that are missing them and fixing up all the FPE files to connect to the proper file-paths.

@Teabone: I have only sought permission from the artists to open source their FPS Creator Classic Model Packs as is, so you are correct to seek permission from third party artists before converting and redistributing them for use in GameGuru. That said, TGC owned a lot of the packs and I hereby grant permission to convert all TGC owned FPSC model packs and distribute them for free on the forums (though not through the asset store or through some paid-for collection). I add my thanks to that of the community for grinding through the conversions!

I Have been converting some of the Pre-Installed segments from Classic FPSC , I have added additional Textures maps AO.G.H.I.R.S.Si to the items
and split them so to can add different Floors and they are all in .X not dbo so they can be further modded af needs be.

IF we are allowed to the content from the pre-installed assets I will be happy to do so with TGC's approval. Once I get the word
it would be allowed, I will Make some small packs and quite happy to pass to TGC to share as they wish.

I await you command

Thanks Lee for the approval on the TGC front!

Below is just a quick link to my working files if people are interested in downloading what I have now:

Game Guru - FPSC Model Packs (Collections)

I should have a lot more uploaded in a few hours, I'm just fine tuning the folder structures so they install the same way as any item in the store would. I will be uploading supporting textures (normals, specs, illuminations) during the weekend. Once all the items are completed, I'll inquire about FTP access so the management can be handled by TGC.

Awesome work perelect and Super Clark

The following items will not be included in any distribution: Freaks and Abominations, Viral Outbreak, Modern Zombies, WWII Zombies, Ancient Egypt, Metro Theatre, Task Force units, Model Pack 2 and Model Pack 4 as he has not approved these for free distribution. Completely understandable as they are of great quality.

I am in fact curious if TGC would be interested in including them as DLC at some point. As these are some of the best model packs for FPSC. I have quite a lot of them working fine in GG, as I had purchased them for FPSC many years ago and find they still look and work great in GG. Though this would be more of a conversation between bond1 and TGC, to be had.

As for the conversion process of all the other approved packs, things are going quite well. I'm just now mostly in the process of getting all the static assets uploaded first. There are a few working items there. Such as health and keys, etc.

The cartoon pack is looking surprisingly good in GG even without the normal and spec maps yet.

The Ancient Rome one is now up with props and structures. The other two I'm still working on testing before uploading. I also have to double check all the contents to make sure they are the ones approved for distribution.

Thanks teamhalo! Seriously great quality work in these two packs. They were my favorite purchases with FPSC back in the day. I'm sure the community will very much appreciate them. These items won't effect any current items you have in store though?

That would be really helpful. As I have a ton of converted assets that are on the github that I would like to add to the converted collection.
