Similarly to how Lee did it with characters during one of his broadcasts (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ElzWYVYzkP8), is it possible to do this with weapons in first person as well? for the purposes of fine tuning and what not.

No it is not.

The weapon system uses a different rig, and animations of what the player can do are in the gamecore/guns folder.

Inside each gun folder is a gunspec.txt file. But to change the animation of the gun and arms, you will need to rig one in a model program and them animate it. Then you will have to change the gunspec.txt file to match your new model.

the gun mesh is called hud.x
