So i have used Game Guru quite some time now, and I have learned a lot. But one thing is still impossible for me. How i add costume models (not GG Store models)?

To make it clear, here is what i mean:
I usually look new models from tf3dm.com. So lets say that i want to use car model, but the file formats are .3ds, .obj and .max.
I download the model, after that im stuck. One thing what i learned is that i need to convert models from whatever the file format is to .x, right? But I would like to know from start to finish/step by step (or atleast from the part where im stuck) how to get models from website to Game Guru. Hope You guys give a little help

This is a good tutorial video for those who have 3d Max, it's not much different for other 3d modelling software but obviously you will need plugins specific to them.

Import into blender 2.69 as OBJ and export as .X format ... ( you may need to turn on Export / Import .X in the settings )

After that add the .x and textures to a folder ....
Add and edit a static model fpe file and that's it ...

You may need a little more help once you get to the fpe file but if you do the other first it should be easy to help

Just an fyi: Many of the models on tf3dm.com are very hi-poly/hi-vertex count. They may not work. I don't recall what the limit is (I think it's around 20k vertices or faces, I really don't remember what), but if you exceed it, it may still import, but you'll know when you try to put it in your level, GG will crash and try to recover from previous session!

Thank You guys. I just recently downloaded Blender.
So I still have two questions. First one is that: I decided to make quick test. So i downloaded random police car model.
Model itself is in file format crown_victoria.max (MAX file). Now model skin is in format .BMP. Is its possible to use this model when I convert the model itself as .x file?
And the second question is that what is fpe file and where i can find it? I know it sounds very stupid but, like I said, this is still topic what I havent got yet

No it is not. Max file is the 3ds max project file and is not importable into Blender. Download static models in .obj format, and animated models in FBX format for blender.

FPE files are found in the entitybank folder and are the files that tell the engine how to initially where the texture is, what shader to use, what collision and sounds, and animation sequences if needed.

Just to let you know I plan to have a tentative look at the FBX format when doing the Easy Building Editor (to support the building editor asset choices). Having the ability to import FBX certainly qualifies as 'easier', especially for Maya users
