Aha!
So there I was thinking....
I wonder if there is a workaround for the wav files like there is for x.files.... I tried a hex editor to open the fpm to see if I could 'load' up with ogg files then just edit replace ogg with wav. Yucch! Alien script or something.
Then a little question irritated me.
WHY.
Why is it that if I load a sound zone and just leave it with default (.wav) it works.
Why is it that the GG demo games etc all work too, as well as my old games.
It is only at the moment of import (as with the .x) that it crashes.
SOOOOOOOOoooooo.
Blank map. Hoi soundzone on map. Instead of browsing to a .wav file, simply went to that field and typed in one I knew of - amospheric\desert.wav.
No crash, test game works.
No tested exhaustively yet, abotu to go back to my project files and see if I can do this and drop the ogg's which don't seem to loop so well (I know - they're meant for music not sounds - but as needs must they say).
Will confirm/deny later....
But if this does work, then the finger HAS to be pointing at some kind of file browsing issue??
cheers for now
Phil
Tada!
My project are back on track!!!!
(apply cruddy movie S.Efrican eccent here)
yup! type in .wav and apply changes...
just don't browse or she are crashing times.....
