Hi guys, I've been working hard trying to figure out blender, I've got the basics down now and a bit of animation, so I want to move onto more complex things. I'd like to be able to make opaque parts on models such as windows, glass bottles and so forth, but i'm not sure how.

I've spent the last few days watching vide after video on how to use alphas and transparencies in Blender, but none of them seem to show as opaque when placed in game and I think the guides I've found don't work for the types of files needed for GG.

Does anyone know of a guide, or is anybody able to explain to me the steps (in simple terms i'm a little slow at these things) I need on how to make a piece of glass in blender and GIMP that will import into GG?

In GIMP, if you right click the active layer it will bring up a list of options - choose 'add layer mask'. Choose white or black (black equals 100% transparent, white equals 100% opaque). Paint this layer grey to create transparency. If you set the colour to around 150,150,150, you should get partial transparency.

Awesome thanks for that, didn't know it was so simple, after reading that I got it first time (see attached image), thanks!

It doesn't like occlusion though, if you have occlusion on the objects behind it flicker when you move the camera angle. Not sure how to fix that.

Try adding notanoccluder = 1 to the fpe file.

Thanks, I'll check that out tonight.

I'm still amazed at how easy it is once you know how, I was expecting to have to make the model transparent in blender with all the multitude of confusing nodes before exporting or something. But I didn't even turn alpha on at all in blender on that quick model, it was all done via the textures in GIMP.
