Hi
When I try to use some myself models (house in this case), I got error stated in title, (please refer to pic bellow).
I've done verify files thru steam app, it said 12 files bad, try again and it say, all is ok.
Try again to place house in a blank map, and the error appears again.

When place some stock one, does not, so I'm thinking about new version feature, plus some incompatibility with my meshes.
This does not happens with all my meshes.
I've checked fpe file, but it has nothing odd.

Someone experienced something like this?

Thanks in advance for all feedbacks.

The error refers to a mesh incompatibility. Collapse the mesh into one and if static, make sure there are no bone nodes in it. See if this helps. your are using Blender right?

ok, Save as a new scene and collapse it there, then you will have a working copy for edits.

I'm done with that.

Apparent reason:
I've missed state "Front pose" in viewport, when render model. (it was in Ortographic mode). Now it work fine.

Now I'm getting another error in a different model (a chariot model), please refer to the pic bellow.

Do you know something about?

Thank you again.

I dropped in the 'caravan 1' entity you sent into a blank map and ran test game, it worked fine with no error. Made a standalone executable of the same scene, loaded and ran fine also. Is there something specific I need to do to recreate the error?

@3com

I know its probably old hat but have you verified your steam installation lately ?
I find its always worth doing when strange things suddenly start to happen

Well guys this is becoming increasingly rare.
First I want to clarify that I'm running out of a total crash of the computer, starting from scratch right now.
So I'm working with a fresh installation of Gameguru, however I made the verification of cache, and says has found 11 files that do not work, and that would download again.
In a second check Steam says everything is OK.

I opened a map containing a few models that belong to a pack, in which I am working now, add the Caravan1 model and it work fine.
I had closed that map, and try the same model in a blank map and it work ok also.

Since the model is a high poly model, I decided to add LOD system to it. (3)

Try it in a blank map, and it work ok. (Getting 24 fps when far away, I know that nothing for you top cards, but for my crappy card)

Try to open the same map I refered above to try it, and I got the same message error above, but for a different chariot model than just minutes ago, it works fine.

Anyway GameGuru open the map, all the entities are there, all appears to be ok, except that I'm not able for to do nothinng, RMB does not work (free camera system), I can`t select any item, and so on.

What this mean (at least for me):

Nothing to do with the entites, but with GameGuru.

summarizing

a- Steam say all is ok.
b- The same entity works fine before, but does not after, (without make any change in both, map and entities)
c- The same map (without not changes) works fine before, but weirdly does not after.

Anyway I had never got up to 13 fps before last update. And I'm talking about blank map with just one tree.

Many thanks guys you all for help me.

It does seem to be a little unstability there for some reason. Can you make a bandicam video from when you first run GameGuru to show these annoyancy issues, as the sequence might be very revealing and might even allow me to reproduce it at this end. Thanks!

@ Lee
I have sent you links to the following videos:

1- added to a map that includes a few models that belong to a pack, in which I am now working . (not working)

2- Added to a blank map (not working)

3- Added a blank map (works well).
I should add that this map did a couple of weeks, just to test the model in GameGuru.

Since then I have not made any changes to the model, so I do not understand that now it is not working.

If you need a most elaborate video, please let me know.

I'm agree with you about GG unstability, but not sure about it had to do with the last update exclusively, since I've experienced things such those, before last update.
It sound like GG map loading interrupted, when loading entities process, but WHY?, that's the 1 millon dollar question.
I've lost some maps getting corrupted, after GG crash, and they does won't open never again, and GG crash when you try to open them.

Email content:

My apologies, I fail to mention that this is the version that includes LOD system, and also I sent the wrong version of the entity.
As you have seen the entity is high poly, for that reason I decided to add LOD system, to the entity

Now I have sent you links to the following videos:

1- added to a map that includes a few models that belong to a pack, in which I am now working. (not working)

2- Added to a blank map (not working)

3- Added a blank map (works well). I should add that this map did a couple of weeks, just to test the model in GameGuru.

Since I have not made any changes to the model, so I do not understand that now is not working.

Thanks you

Is the model you dropped into the editor the same one you sent me, or is it a different one with new LOD elements included. If so, send me that entity just as you find it in your own installation and I will attempt to reproduce what you see. I take it this does not happen with any GameGuru stock media?

Yep, this has all to do.

I sent you the model use in the videos, 2 minutes ago, hope this help to reproduce error.

If you need something else, please let me know.

By my side, I'll continue trying to reproduce error, looking for some different msg error (if any), or somethig new.

Edit: as you can see in first video, there are nothing odd, apart of symple buildings, so there is nothing contributing to cause error. So here we have a model than sometime cause error, and sometime does not. (not logical cause)
So we have GG changing behaviour when loading (some?) entities.

Peraps is time for study slowly the LOAD entities process, step by step. Just my crazy thoughs.
Good luck.

Do not why, but lately google talking me about files greater than 25mb goes to the google drive, so you'll get some link to download it.

I've got just now email request confirmation, I've sent you, let me know if you've some issue, so I'll upload file to my dropboxe,
I don't use dropbox because my latest pc crash, not time to redownload/reinstall all the previews stuff, just the most important.

The LOD works fine (switched all off except entities using F11 (see shot insert)). The LM on the other hand does look odd. I have had success taking exports and using Asset Importer to convert them to OBJ files, then into Blender and export from there as X files to correct situations like this. I am not 100% sure of the root cause, but the X file itself is often holding the strange arrangement of polygons and doing the above conversion tends to remove whatever is causing it. What are you exporting from originally? Here is what I see:

Perhaps the verts needing welded before export? Looks like faces are detached from each other.

Quote: "What are you exporting from originally? "

I had modeled it in 3ds max 2015, and using Bond1 X exporter max plugin.

I checked verts as rolfy suggest, even collapse scene.
I've tried in GG LM (f1 and f4), I'll try to explain what happened:

After very long time, when LM finnished (f1/f4 does not matter), the mesh appear in scene, really nice mapped, but just a few seconds, mesh dessapear from scene and only remain their shadows, (please refer to the pic bellow)

I check the sky but my model are not in the sky, where is wally, my chariot?

Thanks guys for your feedback.

I sent you the caravan model as 3ds, obj, and max format (2015).
If you want max format in previews version, please let me know.

I cant load the Max scene file, I use max2013 you would need to export for this. I didn't get a texture or the obj.
I loaded the 3ds and not sure if it supposed to haave separate LOD meshes as it came in as a single model at 30,503 poly's. GG wont handle that
If it LOD levels just send me a single model highest LOD and send as obj if you could

I reckon when you have collapsed it you attached the models into a single object with 30,000 poly's the lightmapper wont handle this. I decimated this model to get below 10000faces and the lightmapping worked fine.

Hope you saved a backup before collapsing your scene.

Also LOD should be named LOD_0, LOD_1 and LOD_2.

Wonderfull

Not problem because the collapse scene, I've my house full of caravan instances, know I've troubbles to know who is who

I've sent you another LOD instance with separate LODs.

I thought LOD system would be especially useful when you have a hight poly model.

In fact I decided to add LOD system to the mode, due to the high number of polygons.

So that it serves LOD system?

Thanks Rolfy, having another modellers eye on this really helps!! Great point about the LOD, as it ABSOLUTELY needs to be called LOD_0 for the highest polygon mesh, then LOD_1 for the medium and LOD_2 for the lowest polygon version of the same mesh. When using LOD system, you can only have ONE MESH per LOD level (0, 1 and 2 as above). If you want your model to use LOD, you can only have a single mesh per level of detail. If you want your model to have lots of meshes for different parts of your model, then you cannot use the LOD system. We may resolve this in the future if there is demand for it. It's worth noting that the light mapper will only take the HIGHEST polygon mesh (the LOD_0) if it detects this name in the model file, otherwise it will assume you are not using the LOD system and dump ALL meshes into the light mapper for prebaking. Hope this helps add more light (pun).

Very useful info.

Well I've got 10.000 polys plus LOD3 and it works!

Even the LM does, F4.

Thanks to both for invaluable help.

Hi Rolfy, it would be great if you could string together a few 'golden rules' which I can paste into the artists guide rulebook to help future artists avoid what 3com went through. I have been issues like this in the past but could never put my finger on the exact cause...
